   This piece ran in the gosip section of Roll Call. Read the second to last paragraph (about Allen).

   The Moderate Jewel. She sure looked like Marilyn Monroe as she stood on the Cannon Terrace Wednesday, pressing her knee-length dress down to her thighs in the gusting wind to keep the throngs of cameras and reporters from getting a peek.

   But it was no reincarnation. It was only Jewel, a modern-era blonde bombshell who, rather than coming to sing “Happy Birthday” to the president had come to lobby for legislation ending “drive-through” mastectomies.

   The Grammy-nominated pop singer braved chilly winds for an outdoor press conference with Members of Congress and breast cancer survivors. Jewel spent the day in the Capitol to support Lifetime Television’s campaign to lengthen the amount of a time a cancer patient can stay in the hospital after undergoing a mastectomy.

   “This isn’t a feminist issue. This isn’t a faith-based issue. It’s really a common-sense issue,” she said.

   What we really wanted to know, of course, was: Which way do you lean, Jewel, left or right? “I’m down the middle,” she told HOH. “I believe in the right to chew tobacco and have abortions. What does that make me?”

   Hmm, a tobacco-chewing moderate maybe? Sort of like a cross between conservative Sen. George Allen (R-Va.), who’s trying to kick the habit of dipping (since, really, are there any Jews who dip?), and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), a liberal on many fronts, who incidentally ended up running to Jewel’s rescue to escort the star and her entourage through security checkpoints in the Capitol.

   Jewel visited Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) after the press conference, then immediately flew home to Texas. A new resident of the red state, Jewel paused when asked to name her Representative.

   With so much going on — she begins a tour for her new album, “Goodbye Alice in Wonderland,” in November — she said she hasn’t “been able to focus on local politics.”

    Jewel had better watch her step down here in Texas- she is in danger of being “Dixie-Chicked”. If she didn’t have more sex appeal than all the Dixie Chicks put together (even when they all posed together naked for a magazine cover), she would be on even thinner ice!

    If the Lib Media think that it is so disturbing that George Allen’s grandfather is Jewish, why don’t they think that it is disturbing that Pinch Sulzberger’s FATHER is Jewish? Or that John Kerry’s true family name is “Kohn” , that John Kerry’s paternal grandmother was Jewish, and hence John Kerry’s FATHER is (according to Jewish tradition) Jewish? That John Kerry is therefore (according to genetics) half-Jewish? Or that Madeleine Albright is Jewish ( and claimed to be surprised to find out).
    And what about Harry Reid? He’s not Jewish, but his wife is, and his sons are!
    And if being Jewish is something that is so unacceptable, why are there so many Jewish representatives in the Democratic Party? Dianne Feinstein, Carl Levin, that scumbag Feingold, and of course their pariah Joe “The Jew” Lieberman? John (Kohn) Kerry won the Jewish vote in the last election, not George W. Bush! How dare the Libs resort to Jew-baiting when it comes to Senator George Allen?!
    I say to hell with the Libs, Jewish or Gentile!
