Which Direction?

Which Direction?

By Mark R. Levin

John McCain is endorsed and defended by some conservatives (and Republicans) despite the fact that he has not only embraced but promoted several big-government initiatives - and he has done so proudly. He has used this strategy to, among other things, ingratiate himself with the media, which favor him for the Republican nomination. Romney is governor of a liberal state and he has embraced conservative policies and sought to implement many of them. Yet, questions arise about his fidelity to principle based on apparent past - in some cases distant past - statements/positions on abortion and homosexual rights. It seems to me that McCain has evolved from a Reagan conservative to more of a Rockefeller Republican, and Romney has evolved from a more moderate Republican to a Reagan conservative. I’m sure more will be written about this in the weeks and months ahead.

Sandy Berger exposed

Here’s a good post by Dan Riehl at Riehl World View!

What Sandy Berger Tried To Hide

While all the details around the Sandy Berger document theft may not be known for years, thanks to the Internet, by re-visiting 2004, it is possible to draw some fairly strong conclusions as to what he was most likely trying to conceal. The central document in the controversy is The NSC’s Millennium After Action Review.

Previous statements and testimony suggest that the Clinton administration was well aware, or should have been, of an Al-Qaeda cell operating within the United States in 1999 and it was suggested that the administration act to take it out. Not only did the Clinton administration fail to act, they also failed to pass that information along to the incoming Bush administration.

To make the matter timely, the revelations could be devastating to a Hillary Clinton Presidential bid, just as it was thought at the time that they would be damaging to the Kerry Presidential candidacy. Berger was an advisor to the Kerry campaign at the time the theft took place as the Democrats were fighting an image of being weak on terrorism.

Berger Update

Berger Update

By Mark R. Levin

Landmark has been attempting to secure copies of all versions of the Millennium After-Action Review (MAAR) document from the Clinton Library for some time. They denied our original request, and have now denied our appeal. Go here and then click on the scrolling ticker at the top of the page. The pages of the denial letters appear in order as separate files.

Sandy Berger risked imprisonment to destroy or taint these documents. And now the Clintonoids are blocking their release. I have no doubt the information contained in the MAAR documents is devastating.

A Landmark Note

A Landmark Note

By Mark R. Levin

Landmark Legal Foundation , of which I am president, had used the Freedom of Information Act to seek all versions/copies of the documents Berger had stolen from the government. Our request is still pending with President Clinton’s office. (Yes, he gets to decide about their release during a 12-year period from the time he left office, then certain agencies get to decide, and so forth.) The general counsel to the Inspector Counsel of the National Archives contacted me and asked if we would agree to the release of this report in lieu of securing notes taken by the IG’s staff, which he represented were of no real significance. Well, considering the protracted process the government has set up to avoid releasing most of this information, Landmark agreed. We were to receive the report simultaneous with the media.

Apparently the IG’s office released the Berger report to the media before providing a copy to Landmark, and released it only a few days before Christmas. Maybe we’ll revisit our agreement with the IG’s office and go back for the notes.

Military Spending

Here’s an interesting article in the NY Times!

President Wants to Increase Size of Armed Forces

President Bush said Tuesday that the United States should expand the size of its armed forces, acknowledging that the military had been strained by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and would need to grow to cope with what he suggested would be a long battle against Islamic extremism.

“I’m inclined to believe it’s important and necessary to do,” Mr. Bush said. He said this was an “accurate reflection that this ideological war we’re in is going to last for a while, and that we’re going to need a military that’s capable of being able to sustain our efforts and help us achieve peace.”

Term-Limit Justices, Let Congress Veto Court Rulings

by Mark R. Levin
Posted Dec 18, 2006

President Ronald Reagan was a limited-government conservative who firmly believed in an originalist interpretation of the Constitution and in the representative form of government that the Constitution set up.

Unfortunately, like other Republican Presidents before and after him, Reagan’s efforts were, for the most part, stymied by the subsequent behavior of certain of his own appointees. As a consequence, the Supreme Court remains a threat to the Constitution and representative government.

This War

This War

By Mark R. Levin

Are we in a world war against an enemy that seeks to destroy us? I certainly think so. The enemy says so. And 9/11 proves beyond question the enemy’s intentions. Iraq is a battle in this war, and we must not lose it. While I disagree with the administration’s refusal to take the war to Iran and Syria, both of which have repeatedly undertaken acts of war against us, we simply can’t leave Iraq and ignore the dire consequences such an act would inflict on the Iraqis, the region, and most importantly our own security.

Burlingame

Burlingame

By Mark R. Levin

This Wall Street Journal piece by Debra Burlingame is MUST reading. We should be outraged by the antics those six imams pulled the other day on the USAir jetliner. This has nothing to do with civil rights or discrimination. This is a farce. And our government should investigate who was behind this stunt and hold them accountable. Airline security is no joke, and it’s not the plaything of radical Islamic groups who seek to score political and PR points and weaken our ability to ensure the public’s safety.
Let me also offer my deepest sympathy to Debra and her family on the tragic death of her niece. And if you want to see an example of grotesque reporting, read the last paragraph of this story. The New York Times has no shame.

CAIR Being Anti-American again…

CAIR is calling for ouster of Talk Show Host Dennis Prager from the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. Why you ask? Oh, it was vile…evil…and despicable!!! Yup, that’s right; he exercised his right to Free Speech. How? He criticized Keith Ellison, the new Islamic Congressman from Minnesota.

Listen to Mark’s comments and then ACT!!! Let the United States Holocaust Memorial Council hear from you. Exercise YOUR Freedom of Speech and shut down these terrorist supporters at CAIR!!!

More CAIR intimidation

More CAIR intimidation

By Mark R. Levin

This from AP—

An Islamic civil rights group today called for the removal from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council of a columnist who criticized Rep.-elect Keith Ellison’s decision to use the Qur’an during his ceremonial swearing-in.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations says the comments by Dennis Prager displayed an intolerance toward Islam — and make him an inappropriate person to serve on the council….

More here.

UPDATE: And by the way, I disagree with Prager’s position. Still, CAIR is an intolerant organization with dangerous roots and associations.

Another great piece about CAIR at Frontpage.

When will the administration, Congress, and the media wise up to this?

Rummy some very good ideas to the White House before he was unceremoniously retired.

I think in time Donald Rumsfeld will be seen as an extraordinary force for good, including at the Pentagon.

Mark is our leader!

Friday, a caller told Mark we need a statesman to step up and lead and Mark should be that leader! Mark agreed!

Although, I think the caller had a different type of leader in mind! LOL!
