Post examples of liberal logic that makes your head hurt.
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has been adopted by the libs as one of their favorites to quote from when he says anything derogatory against his former boss - my President.
Wasn't Powell's job at the State Department to get other countries to join with us to make Iraq comply with the UN resolutions?
Wasn't his job to diplomatically ensure land and air access for our forces from places like "Turkey"?
The Powell Doctrine calls for the use of overwhelming forces, yet he failed diplomatically to gain support from other member nations of the UN as well as gaining permission to stage our invasion forces on the northern borer of Iraq.
It makes my mind go numb when I hear the libs complain about us not having enough troops when I think that if we had a good diplomat on our side we could have gotten the French to help out they could have been put in charge of looting prevention.
The Germans and Russians have plenty of experience imprisoning folks so they could have spared us with Abu-Grabass.
The Chinese are credited with inventing gun powder so they could have been put in charge of securing all the weapons depots.
Gee-whiz, if you add all these diplomatic failures of Powell State Department we could have had over whelming force and a success from the get-go.

No comments or additions?
Am I wrong in wondering why Powell gets a pass for his diplomatic failures?

Then perhaps you can show me where he is shouldering the blame for his failures?
All I see is the President and Rumsfeld being blamed for his short comings.

Um, do you ever listen to Mark Levin? His name is on this forum. He is on the air as I type! He has blamed Powell for lots of failures!

Yes I listen to Mark regularly on XM -- again I ask what's with the personal attacks.
Have you heard him or Rush ever tie the lib's charge about not enough troops at the beginning of the war to Powell?
I haven't.
Powell's doctrine called for overwhelming force --- the libs have beating the President like a pinata for years now over not having enough troops yet they fail to realize that it was "Powell" who failed -- not the President.
Now we are sending re-enforcements and they say "hey forget what we said about overwhelming force" that doesn't serve their purpose.

Because of the negative reaction to Vietnam, the leaders in this country timidly are fighting this war on terror. That is the bottom line. Going into Iraq should have been a one-two punch, but instead the President started his "winning hearts and minds" campaign which really underestimated the vengeance of the terrorist. He should have used force right away to stop the looting after the statue fell and he should have used the Baathist troops that were already trained under Hussein. Instead they were disbanded and without money, went over to the side of the terrorist. Now we are fighting them as well.
If we used force to squelch the insurrection between the Sunni and Shia and showed them force, we would be in a much better place now. Sure there would be casualties but that is what happens if you want to save lives down the road.
The President is paying dearly for his handling of this war. The folks would be behind him if we thought he was fighting this to win. Now everyone is just disgusted with him and cannot see any purpose in letting our soldiers die because he is inhibiting their actions in this conflict.
If all the other countries would have stepped up to the plate and helped stop this civil war in Iraqi , it would be over tomorrow. Instead they like nothing better than to see us fail so they can criticize us. The world is not our friend and it never was, and it is about time we do what is best for the United States. The only time they come running to us is when they are under attack. Next time we should let them swing in the breeze.

John Gibson hits Shrillery where it hurts.
Quote: |
President Hillary Rotten Clinton aka Her Thighness started making policy today. At the DNC winter meetings in Washington she began to reveal some of the Clinton Part Deux agenda, which will kick into gear after her inauguration.
Yesterday Exxon declared the biggest profit in the entire history of capitalism $39 billion and that did not escape Hillary's notice. Today she promised to tax Exxon on those huge profits, and tax those greedy capitalist pigs big time. Here's her quote:
"I want to take those profits and put them into an alternative energy fund that will begin to fund alternative smart energy alternatives that will actually begin to move us toward the direction of independence."
She referred to those profits as the highest in the history of the world, and she said: "I want to take those profits..." Not I want to take part of those profits. "I want to take those profits," she said. |
