Presidential Executive Fiat

"A fiat is an order or decree, or any arbitrary order. (noun)
An example of a fiat is a legally binding decree that is issued by a king."
**(As stated by the Webster New World dictionary edition)

Question Mark,

Since President Obama has been claiming "Executive Fiat" lately on various issues...........can the Congress pass or ENFORCE any sort of " EMERGENCY SUSPENSION" of his power or priveledge , if they feel that he is ABUSING it??? In other words, Is there any way to STOP him from going against Congress and the People on matters especially pertaining to NATIONAL SECURITY ...example being the fiat that he gave after the Immigration ruling?

By the Way,.. I listen to YOU everyday on my computer while I work....and my kids (ages 10-7 and 6) LOVE to listen to you too! You are a TRUE PATRIOT Mark, PLEASE keep up all your hard work, for our Country, and for all the kids that will NOT get a say in the matter.

Sincerely,
Stinkerbell

I am not Mark, but I would say whether or not Congress could stop Obama's executive fiats is irrelevant, so long as the Senate is run by Libs.

Let's replace Obama with Romney and see if he can reverse Obama's damage.

hey there. what fiat's from the first or last 50 years of Roman law? :)

The president leads the mil, foreign relations (but customarily appoints a rep) and sits as the head "whip" (debate master we can say) over [congress]. but since the pres. is usually at the white house the vice pres. sits in the place of "presiding over congress".

the president can sign or refuse to sign bills but he doesn't pass them. he can ask the floor to vote on them: but so can you if you ask!

if your talking "policy" not all policy is "law". your more looking at staffers and agencies and such. though the president is usually on the news as the one who does everything in washington ... there's probably a few million people in washington doing things ...

IMMIGRATION? wow hot topic and complicated. the constitution mentions how States in the U.S. can (charge for) legal immigration (per say) and Congresses limitations to interfere. Oppositely the president has the task of protecting the borders of the 53 states with the military from foreign penetration (Defense), and your concerned with a simple pedestrian overrun no doubt.

oh policy. people always pin things on the President that agencies are doing. one of the many agencies is the president's cabinet (and agency).

I suggest looking at the history of Andrew Jackson and James Bowie if you want an alternate picture of how politics and borders are not always a clean matter of followed law.
