Today would be Ronald Reagan’s 96th birthday. Mark celebrated this great man and this country by playing Mr. Reagan’s speech in support of Republican Presidential Candidate Barry Goldwater on October 27, 1964. This was one of his first speeches on the national level and one of his greatest.

Where are all the “Reagans” today?
Happy Birthday Mr. President.
The entire speech on its own can be heard and the text can be downloaded from the The Miller Center for Public Affairs…

Oh how we need a guy like him today, he must be spinning in his grave seeing today’s Republican party.
Happy Birthday Magnus, you are still in our prayers.
Man I gotta tell “The Speech” could be delivered today, and it’s relevance would be exactly the same. Where is the next Reagan? Hands down the greatest president in my lifetime. He not only delivered this brilliant speech, but he wrote it as well! The man stands right there alongside the likes of Washington and Lincoln as one of the great patriots in our history. Happy birthday Gipper!

Happy Birthday, President Ronald Reagan.
Thank you for the great service you gave to our country. You stand out from the other US presidents of the 20th century as the one who did the most to assure that we remained the greatest nation on Earth.
Thank you, Mark Levin, for this great audio. You are The Great One.
Thank you. John, for this great post.
I miss this great man! The greatest president of my lifetime by a wide margin! Where have all the Reagan types gone?

Ronald Reagan’s greatest days were America’s greatest days. The Republican party has lost its way. As Conservatives we must right the ship of state. We must ensure that our children are exposed to this period of history, for we can rely on the Lib historians to rewrite the 80’s and subvert the truth. Socialism is built on lies, false promises and public ignorance. Today’s “al Qaeda”-crat Party is, to paraphrase the Gipper, A party which prefers disgrace to danger, that is prepared for a master, and deserves one. Let them suffer the beheading as a party. Let the nation rise to repel our enemies both from without, and within our borders. Let us find the voice that echoes this great President. He must teach, so that he may lead. God Bless you, Ronald Reagan!
Ronald Reagan made me the Conservative I am today. He was the first President I voted for, and frankly although I have voted in every election since; I wonder if he is the last true Conservative I will ever vote for. I pray not. If there was one thing that this great man taught me it is to look forward with pride in our country and the Providence of this great land. He taught me to believe in myself and my dreams, to pursue them and embrace the founding principles of this land. I know that Ronald Reagan means so much to us all and I know that he remains within our hearts and soul as a Conservative Party, if only we could reach down in an act of collective will and grasp it. Happy Birthday President Reagan, I know that in heaven you are celebrating the life God had given you and we are celebrating the life God had shared with us.
Wow. I heard this segment on Mark’s show tonight. What a great public service.
It made me want to don my “WWRD” [What Would Reagan Do?] T-shirt, which I WILL wear to my favorite dancin’/waterin’ hole, this week!
Will we EVER have another person in office who can truly be called “Reaganesque”?
I refrain from using the mantra of “where are all the Reagans today??”. First, it isn’t fair to other Republicans. There was only ONE Ronald Reagan, and such transcendant figures stand alone.
Secondly, nobody—-and I mean NOBODY—-could deliver a speech like “The Gipper”. Didn’t matter who wrote it. Even if the speech on it’s own wasn’t very good……Reagan could MAKE it good.
Finally (and this is the part that gets overlooked), even REAGAN wasn’t able to keep his party in a dominant position. I often hear people say that Republicans lost in November because they “lost their way” or because they “lacked leadership at the top”. The fact is, even the GREAT Reagan lost 26 house seats in his first midterm election cycle. In his second midterm, he not only lost more house seats, he also lost NINE senate seats.
NINE!
I don’t believe there are many who would advance the idea that any of this happened because those Republican branches of Congress “lacked leadership” or “lost their way”. We live in a new era of a 24-hour news cycle where every detail gets dissected every hour. We often over-analyze and over-reach. And despite the “warts” of today’s Republicans, I believe that had as much to do with what happened in November as anything.
For those reasons, I say that there will never be another Ronald Reagan……..and it’s probably the fair & right thing to do by not LOOKING for one.
Anyway, Happy 96th, Great Gipper!
Mark…..SIMPLY BRILLIANT! I have only heard snippets of that speech and want to THANK YOU SO MUCH! I had chills and tears and then interrupted with a chuckle from the humor that Reagan had. THAT WHOLE SPEACH IS SO RELEVANT TO WHAT IS HAPPENING TODAY! So accurate, clear speaking, and basic that ANYONE can understand it. It NEEDS to be played MORE!
Reagan was the first President I voted for in 1984 and I stood in line all night to walk by his casket as it lie in state at the Reagan Library that summer of 2004. It was well worth the experience.
Happy Birthday Mister Reagan! Sadly, even though we need another one, THERE WILL NEVER BE ONE LIKE YOU!
Happy Birthday Mr. President. Almost half a century later, the timelessness of Ronald Reagan’s clarion call to the conservative movement still retains that pristine clarity and relevance. He spoke with soul, conviction, and vision. This, is the elixir of life for America today. Socialism has no soul, no wit; it is a factory filled with the echoes of hopelessness that mire the faceless multitudes bereft of any hope, waiting for a brighter tomorrow that never arrives.
Mr. Reagan demonstrated why socialism, if it succeeds, will spell the end of America, and the rest of civilization. He dared to point out the fallacies of the welfare state. Why does rendering more welfare give rise to an ever festering need for even more welfare? If welfare is the answer, than there should be a trend towards decreasing welfare needs, and increasing personal independence. Reality paints a condemning picture of socialism.
Socialism (aka the welfare state) goes against the grain of civilization as ushered in by the birth of America. The founding fathers realized their dream in building a nation where the eternal yearning of man to be free, was the bedrock of the Constitution. Liberals, I dare you to refute that! Socialism, I repeat, demands that man cedes that individual freedom to the government. In others words, Government plays God. That, goes against the natural laws of man.
God Bless America.

Happy Bithday Mr. President…and I believe that one of your fellow Californians can carry on your message for America now; Duncan Hunter…
I heard a thought recently that started out sounding like insanity…..but once it was completed, it was CORRECT:
Jimmy Carter actually DID do something very good for America: He got us Ronald Reagan!
I’m with you, PD!
Those who have missed it, see

One word: Wow! That speech brought tears to my eyes, because we long for a leader like Ronaldus Magnus. God bless Ronald Reagan.
There ARE some of us “Ronald Reagan types” out here. There just seems to be none in the national limelight. Are we JUST like Ronnie?!? Heck no, but we are strong believers in the same values as he did. Many of us here fit into that mold. President Reagan PERFECTED that mold.
God Bless him…
Happy Birthday to the greatest President this country has ever seen. We need you now more than ever Gipper.
I worked in the SPA @ the St Regis Hotel in Century City and was given a tour of the Hotel. When I walked into the “Reagan Suite” I had to pause and ask myself “If these walls could talk!!”.
As a misinformed Democrat during the 80’s my perception of him was not favorable. What I do remember is that all of a sudden there was a newly established “Pride” in being an AMERICAN!! Mr. Levin has since educated me on why. Thank you OH GREAT ONE!!
President Reagan looked and acted presidential. He was a class act.
Also President Ronald Reagan looked better at 70 years old than Bill Clinton did at 50.
Oh, how we need another Ronald Reagan! Between Hollywood, the news media, and the far-left extremists America is being systematically destroyed. We need another Patrick Henry . . . “Give me liberty or give me death!” The politicians now are pathetic. There is not a courageous one in the bunch.
