Fox News reports:

The move comes on the heels of a new poll that showed Republican Dede Scozzafava had fallen behind her two competitors in a race too close.

Republican state Assemblywoman Dierdre Scozzafava has suspended her campaign for upstate New York’s 23rd Congressional seat, leaving Democratic nominee Bill Owens and Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman in the race that will conclude Tuesday.

The move comes on the heels of a new poll that showed Scozzafava had fallen behind her two competitors in a race too close. The Siena College poll has Owens picking up 36 percent of the vote, while Hoffman has 35 percent. Scozzafava has 20 percent, with nine percent of voters undecided.

“The reality that I’ve come to accept is that in today’s political arena, you must be able to back up your message with money — and as I’ve been outspent on both sides, I’ve been unable to effectively address many of the charges that have been made about my record,” she said.

Update: You’ll feel tingly all over to hear that both Steele and Newt have endorsed Hoffman, now that Scozzafava has dropped out.

In plain human speak “unable to effectively address many of the charges” translates to “Many in the NY-23 recently learned I am a lib and found a candidate more to their liking.”

I respect the decision reached by Scozzafava. As Clint Eastwood once said: “Every man must know his limitations”. In this case it was a woman; or at least what I believe to be a woman. The main reason Scozzafava has made this decision is simply because “I’ve been unable to effectively address many of the charges that have been made about my record,” she(Scozzafava) said.
Everyone knows you are a LIB, Scozzafava, and that won’t sit well with the people in the NY-23…….. I, myself, recommend further you(Scozzafava) resign from politics altogether. Your past track record indicates a ‘dis-service’ to mankind and society at large…… You(Scozzafava) like other LIBS have contributed absolutely nothing….. to your fellowman.

…and just when I learned how to pronounce Scozzafava….

Sorry Anna, but think how bad SHE feels. She was all ready to sneak in to congress and be another RINO turd when an absolute NOBODY came along and knocked her on her bottom side.

      Gotta love it.

She did the right thing even if she did it for the wrong reason.

I am not yet totally convinced that there wasn’t a motive beyond just doing a good thing or averting a republican loss. If Hoffman wins with her still in the race the RNC would get the message and it would be loud and clear; doomsday for RINO’s. This way they have a way out since they declined to finish the race; if Hoffman loses they can claim he was too conservative and they need to run moderate candidates.

Finally, we are on the scoreboard.

Good job Newt. You exposed yourself.

Glad that the good people of NY 23 will get a real Republican and not a Repubican.

Freaking Halloween witch-bitch Scozzafava didn’t take long before the withered blossom fell to the ground and she exposed her true leftist penchant for labor. Yes, she did the right thing while maximizing damage for her own party. Now she is adding her votes to Owens instead of Hoffman, who was taking some away from both of them to acheive a win. Well at least she can’t function as an elected congressional official (mobster). She was actually a sleuth, impersonating, masked candidate helping defeat dems because she was even more liberal than her opponent! It was a win, win liberal extravaganza before Hoffman entered the race and made a difference. A choice between leftists now culminates in leftists combining forces against a true republican… a conservative. How convenient. With her endorsement of Owens the RNC blew any excuse they could construct that Hoffman (should he lose) was too conservative. No, they were too phony, knew they would lose in a 3-way race and needed to combine forces to do what they wanted to accomplish all along. At least that is the perception that is emerging and beginning to prevail.

Mr. Steele, the RNC and the RNCC can’t even run an honest campaign and worse yet they can’t even run a dishonest one that can fool the people that they thought would not notice. Thanks for the heads up Ms. Scuzzyfavor. We really needed something to remember about you that will never be forgotten.

If I were Mr. Steele I would do a mia culpa and admit how wrong I was about the RNC endorsement. But then again such an admittance makes one seriously wonder just how qualified Mr. Steele and those who run the RNC can really be when they actually endorse a candidate, for their own party, that is even more to the left than the candidate that they oppose, without noticing the difference.

I wonder if there is any truth to the rumor that, had she won the election, she would have switched over to the Democrat Party. Considering the most recent developments, I do not find that all that difficult to believe. She did us a huge favor by proving to us exactly who she is.
