NY-23: Steele factually wrong while talking with Hannity; Scozzafava is for card check

by @ 8:41 pm on October 28, 2009. Filed under RINOs

RNC Chairman Michael Steele needs to do his homework before going back on Sean Hannity’s radio show. Today, Hannity asked him about the Republican National Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee’s support of the liberal Republican in the race against Conservative Party [candidate] and Republican Doug Hoffman for the House seat vacated by John McHugh. Here’s a brief excerpt; listen closely to Steele disputing Hannity about Scozzafava’s position on card check:

The two sources of proof that Michael Steele is mistaken are Dede Scozzafava and Dede Scozzafava, in writing and on tape.

On Oct 19, 2009, the all things liberal labor In These Times reported:

In These Times obtained a copy of a candidate questionnaire from the AFL-CIO’s legislative department. In that document, Scozzafava pledged to co-sponsor EFCA with card check, as did her Democratic opponent Bill Owens. To wit:

If elected, would you co-sponsor and vote for the Employee Free Choice Act (S.800/H.R. 1041), which passed the House by a vote of 241-185 on March 1, 2007 but was blocked by a Senate filibuster in June, 2007 (the Senate failed to invoke cloture by a vote of 51-48 vote)?

The Employee Free Choice Act, introduced by Senator Kennedy in the Senate and Representative George Miller in the House, would require employers to honor their workers’ decision to join a union after a majority of them signed a union authorization card or petition; establishes first contract mediation and arbitration; and creates meaningful penalties against employers who interfere with, coerce or fire workers for attempting to join a union. OWEN [sic]– YES, DEDE – YES

That same day, John McCormack of The Weekly Standard reported:

“I asked Assemblywoman Scozzafava if she supports card check. “Yes, yes I do,” she replied.”

The Scozzafava campaign quickly backtracked after first alleging that John McCormark yelled at her while asking questions. They did so when he played the full audio of the incident for the Associated Press and they confirmed his version of events.

Before the last shred of their credibility is lost, perhaps Newt Gingrich and Michael Steele should ask John McCormack if they can also listen to that audio.

Look for Newt and Steele to be doing the CYA and Spin Hustle sometime next week.

Vote NY-23, and vote for Hoffman! Show the nation that NYS is home to CONSERVATIVES!

  2. Handyman says:

Steele: “The reality of it is that is who they nominated…. I want someone elected with values that are important to this party…”

Hannity: “Here is the position of the Republican candidate: Abortion rights advocate, Margret Sanger award winner,100% planned parenthood rating, she supports gay marriage, she supported the stimulus, she supports card check, cap and tax..”

Steele: “She didn’t support card check”

Steele even if you were right, you are still screwed up for supporting her. Are you saying that the party is for abortion, gay marriage, more big government spending and cap and trade? Even if you were right in your objection, I am not impressed. On top of that you apparently don’t know when to keep your mouth shut.

The fact that this woman is who she is, is not the big issue. The big issue is not even the leftist support she received from ACORN and friends. The real issue is that Steele and Ginrgrich gave their blessing to a leftist in the Adiriondack Mountains of NY. This is not the Bronx or the upper West Side of the City. And we are the ones out of touch? This woman is so liberal she could have run as a socialist…not in NY, but in France.

Steele was intentionally fuzzy and spewed two more inaccuracies. He said Scozzafava, “won a quasi-primary,” but in truth there was no voter participation. Eleven county representative decided using a system that gave 46% of the decision to four representatives, all friends of Scozzafava; it was a stacked deck. In addition, Steele called NY-23 liberal to moderate yet moderate to conservative John McHugh easily won all his election/reelections.

For years I have been rallying against this type of thing. She was vetted by the “good old boy network”. It is the bane of politics. It is what unions do. It was what the European Guild system did that held back progress for 300 years. It is about friendship, nepotism, connections and back scratching. Ultimately it bypasses a lot of talent. Worse yet it doesn’t care about talent, intent or purpose; just about the players.

I could tell you stories about the DNC that makes us look like a banana republic full of thugs.

If Scozzafava were a decent human being, let alone a principled republican she would resign tomorrow and give her support to Hoffman.

Actually Steele was blindsided by the local insiders but he should have done as much homework as Sgt Tim and prepared answers that were not so incriminating. He was intentionally “fuzzy” because he realized that he did not know what he was talking about.

Freaking Halloween witch-bitch Scozzafava didn’t take long before the withered blossom fell to the ground and she exposed her true leftist penchant for labor. Yes, she did the right thing while maximizing damage for her own party. Now she is adding her votes to Owens instead of Hoffman, who was taking some away from both of them to acheive a win. Well at least she can’t function as an elected congressional official (mobster). She was actually a sleuth, impersonating, masked candidate helping defeat dems because she was even more liberal than her opponent! It was a win, win liberal extravaganza before Hoffman entered the race and made a difference. A choice between leftists now culminates in leftists combining forces against a true republican… a conservative. How convenient. With her endorsement of Owens the RNC blew any excuse they could construct that Hoffman (should he lose) was too conservative. No, they were too phony, knew they would lose in a 3-way race and needed to combine forces to do what they wanted to accomplish all along. At least that is the perception that is emerging and beginning to prevail.

Mr. Steele, the RNC and the RNCC can’t even run an honest campaign and worse yet they can’t even run a dishonest one that can fool the people that they thought would not notice. Thanks for the heads up Ms. Scuzzyfavor. We really needed something to remember about you that will never be forgotten.

If I were Mr. Steele I would do a mia culpa and admit how wrong I was about the RNC endorsement. But then again such an admittance makes one seriously wonder just how qualified Mr. Steele and those who run the RNC can really be when they actually endorse a candidate, for their own party, that is even more to the left than the candidate that they oppose, without noticing the difference.

Read Malkin’s ‘$1 million object lesson‘ this morning. Michael Steele better read and heed it.

Steele et al. already knows. It is not just about republicans winning. It is about some (not all) RINO’s retaining what power they have and don’t want to give up. And they will spin this just the way the liberal left will not blame the economy and health care legislation as it is directly related to the D.C. Administration and their congressional majorities.

No matter how they spin it ultimately this will play into how some RINO’s behave, will encourage new conservative voices and will strike fear into the hearts of blue dogs as they contemplate their single term futures.
