America’s troops slighted once again; President Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

by @ 8:45 am on October 9, 2009. Filed under Barack Obama

My reading of history indicates that America’s troops have been restoring peace to foreign nations since about 1900. Yet this morning we learn the Nobel committee has passed them over once again. Oh well, what’s a million or so Americans who died in the cause of peace compared to the hope and change President Barack Obama has brought to the world:

In June, he traveled to Cairo, fulfilling a campaign pledge to deliver a speech in a major Muslim capital. There, in a speech that was interrupted with shouts of “We love you!” from the crowd, Mr. Obama said he sought a “new beginning” and a “fresh relationship” based on mutual understanding and respect.

“I am convinced that in order to move forward, we must say openly the things we hold in our hearts, and that too often are said only behind closed doors,” the president said then. “There must be a sustained effort to listen to each other, to learn from each other, to respect one another, to seek common ground.”

But Mr. Obama’s foreign policy has been criticized bitterly among neoconservatives like former Vice President Dick Cheney, who have suggested his rhetoric is naïve and his inclination to talk to America’s enemies will leave the United States vulnerable to another terrorist attack.

In its announcement of the prize, the Nobel Committee seemed to directly refute that line of thinking.

“Obama has as president created a new climate in international politics,” the committee wrote. “Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play.”

Interviewed later in the Nobel Committee’s wood-paneled meeting room, surrounded by photographs of past winners, Mr. Jagland brushed aside concerns expressed by some critics that Mr. Obama remains untested.

“The question we have to ask is who has done the most in the previous year to enhance peace in the world,” Mr. Jagland said. “And who has done more than Barack Obama?”

Who indeed.

Awarding BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA the Nobel Peace Prize is the same thing in my mind as Putting A Dress, Lipstick, and a Fancy Hairdo on a PIG!! If this is the logic we are to follow; let’s free Bernie Madoff and put him in charge of the U.S. Treasury. We can also get the Taliban to handle our military affairs and the Somali Pirates can handle all overseas operations.

I have never in my life witnessed such foolishness, and stupidity on such a grand and perverse scale. Our forefathers must be spinning in their graves. I no longer possess any respect whatsoever for the Committee issuing the Nobel Peace Prize. Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel must be spinning in his grave too!!

Cannot wait to hear what MARK LEVIN, RUSH LIMBAUGH, and SEAN HANNITY have to say about this one…….

I like Andy McCarthy’s suggestion that they rename the Peace Prize to to this.

I think it has become quite clear that winning the prize is not about accomplishments but how you feel, what you think and what you say. Anyone who has ever listened to Norwegian media knows how much they love Obama, hated George Bush and just could not wait to use their minority status in the World to stick it to traditional American values. Norway has taken redistribution to it’s zenith and if were not for its vast oil reserves (Kuwait of the North) would be broke.

Rush on Obama, “I think his head is so big right now that his ears actually fit.”

His head may be big but what’s in it is not.

The meteoric surreal rise to fame of Obama has even those that fictionalized his messianic personality stunned. It is has become a feeding frenzy based upon absolutely nothing.

Before he even graduated he had a book deal (now pretty much accepted as having been ghost written by Bill Ayers), spent a small amount of time as a community agitator before he effortless was elected to the Illinois Senate, then immediately headed for the US Senate where his relatively short and unaccomplished stay was mostly punctuated by his Presidential candidacy. Now after becoming the first US president with the least experience and the most tainted background, he dresses the cover of Time Magazine almost a dozen times, is on the cover of Men’s Health and countless other magazines, receives rave reviews by the American press multiple times each and every day while his wife is similarly displayed in every fashionable fashion magazine for her beauty, poise, grace, mannerisms and intelligence. What else was left except for a Nobel Peace Prize?

The man has accomplished absolutely nothing and yet received accolades of biblical proportions that makes even Moses, from the original Cecil B. DeMille, “Ten Commandments” film, appear trivial and second-rate by comparison. If he wasn’t already a narcissist before all of this he certainly has more than a sufficient reason to become one now. In fact how can you escape believing that you cannot walk on water when the whole world seems to say that you already have?

The international and domestic hate for George Bush is more responsible for this alternative love fest than anything else. Now what else is left to accomplish other than real things? Pride goes before a fall but it will be nothing comparable to the calamity that is preparing to befall a reputation this unfounded. When reality catches up and overtakes this fantasy the only enduring emotion left will be pity, not just for Obama, but also for the media, the international community and the hordes of those that chose to vote the way they did. The question that will remain will be, “who will pity whom”? One thing is for certain; conservatives, who never partook of the original cool-aid hypnosis, will not be troubled by the aforementioned question.

Mark Steyn on Obama, “On Monday, he’s scheduled to win the Eurovision Song Contest.”

    Damn straight Sgt. Tim.

  8. What a longshot! I knew Mark shouldn’t have nominated him! /s
