Personal message to Glenn Beck

by @ 3:53 pm on September 17, 2009. Filed under Beck

I am simply a fan and I am quoting Sgt. Tim. Here’s my personal message to Glenn Beck:

Attribute all your sources, give credit to all those who dug out the facts, promote them, and encourage your listeners/viewers to follow the leads those sources provide.

Beck, if you follow those rules, Mark would become your friend, instead of an adversary.

    ‘Friend’ might be a stretch.

  2. Also Mr Beck,Please quit pleading with lib’s and statest’s,that’s weak!

This is a good message for everyone. When blogging, for example, the source must always be cited when it’s known. And even then, it’s a good rule of thumb to only quote partial text with recommendation to read the whole thing at the source.
Search for the source if someone sends you an email with only the text and no author.

Love both Mark and Glenn, along with Rush, Sean, Chris Plante, Mark Steyn, Laura, Monica, and a few others :-)

    Keep up the great work!

I hope Mark Levin sees this…Im 53 years old and cold steel conservative. I dont know what your beef with Glenn Beck is but he is doing great work for the right side. Get over it. You want to cry over things that sound like your things cry to yourself…We neen unity. GET OVER IT

    • MLF says:

bh, I would think my message makes it self explanatory what Mark’s beef is. Perhaps you should post on Beck’s site, instead. Tell him to stop stealing.

  5. bh says:

I should have quilified that I love your work Mark…and your point of view…lose whatever baggage you carry with Beck. We will all be better for it

  6. MudStuffin says:

I have to agree with bh on this one.
I was disappointed to no end to hear Mark belittle Glenn Beck while comparing him to Rush Limbaugh; as comparing George Washington to George Jefferson. There is a type of intangible ache when you find out two people you truly admire based on their like-mindedness to your own have an animosity toward each other.
I know that Glenn is a little loose with expositional information [emphasis added by site editor] regarding what comes in to his shows, but I personally believe it is done more as a time expedience than out of any need to self promote. Sorry, Mark, MLF, we can’t all be canon scholars and academics. It should be fairly self-evident that Glenn Beck isn’t one. What Glenn does is speak to the common conservative not blessed with towering intelligence and multiple degrees.
Perhaps Mark Levin hasn’t read Beck’s latest book containing page after page of footnotes citing the sources for the information he is presenting.
We are in the midst of a fundamental and ideological transformation of this country. At this point, squabbling over proper attributions seems kind of petty. It is a bit of an outlandish parable, but Mark Levin bashing Glenn Beck is kind of like the finger bashing the Little Dutch Boy for not giving proper credit for its’ role in plugging the dike.
I don’t care who the messenger is, or where he got the information, I am simply happy to have it there to look into it for myself.

      ex·po·si·tion:
      Pronunciation: ek-spə-ˈzi-shən
      Function: noun
      Date: 14th century

1: a setting forth of the meaning or purpose (as of a writing)
2a: discourse or an example of it designed to convey information or explain what is difficult to understand b(1): the first part of a musical composition in sonata form in which the thematic material of the movement is presented (2): the opening section of a fugue
3: a public exhibition or show

Mud: The “time expedience” excuse doesn’t cut it. While it takes only seconds on-air to attribute, it acknowledges the labor of others, sows unity in common cause, and lends credibility to argument.

As to your parable, if history holds, Beck will someday claim he held back the liberal flood all on his own.

At best it’s common courtesy; at worst it’s plagiarism. Remember Ward Churchill? So I don’t blame Mark Levin for getting cheesed off about others, intentionally, or otherwise, who continually “steal” his ideas.
