Yes, some roads in NY are eight feet deep in oyster shells. That happened a hundred and fifty years ago. Oysters are as vanquished as “Common Sense†which is evidenced by Mr. Weiner’s obfuscation of his true intention of giving all Americans a “one size fits all†health care non-option. “Common Sense†is MIA and is replaced by “Good Sense†which is a rare and uncommon mental state and is also not something that Weiner ever possessed or cares to be burdened by. If you have problems with the forty-seven million Americans currently lacking health insurance, first get the numbers correct. Deflate the numbers to correctly represent Americans and not non-citizens as well; then include those that deliberately don’t want insurance because they would prefer that their neighbor pay for them. When you correctly pare this down to about fifteen to twenty million concentrate on that number (as in Medicaid). Leave the rest of us alone.
It is amazing how many of a satisfied large majority have to suffer for the benefit of a dissatisfied small minority. Ask yourself what part of this is democracy? But even more important, in a representative republic such as ours, what part is Constitutional?
