Anna,

Burke is not an easy read because of the way they wrote two hundred years ago. If Burke were alive today he would find it difficult to read what were are writing. He was born in Ireland and moved to England. If you think that the way he wrote is difficult to read can you imagine how difficult it would be to actually talk to him? Considering I often talk to a lot of recently arrived Irish I embarrassingly often have to ask them to repeat what they say. Since I often do callbacks late at night, using a cell phone, I dread having to decipher some of these conversations. But if you really want to know how people actually thought and what they meant you have to go to the original writings and then you have to take into consideration that, just like today (using the Slimes as an example), there are those that deliberately spin things.

If I read Beck's book, would I have to imagine he is contorting his face in an attempt to deliver amusing satire?

"But it speaks to the measure of Mark Levin’s intellect that, compared to Glenn and many others writing calls to action, Mark was able to condense down and explain for laymen a host of meaty subjects and complicated matters."

lol...I've been trying to read some of Burke's essays...good stuff, but not an easy read by any stretch.

I have previously stated this book is the distilled nectar of conservatism. Start with this and everything else will be relatively easy reading. If what you read is out of sync with the concepts expressed within these pages you are reading about something other than conservatism.
