Over at Riehl World View, Dan writes of “Mourning” Joe Scarborough:
Isn’t it at least a little bizarre that the grand book party for said book would be held at the home of Margaret (so liberal you can’t take her seriously) Carlson? And that the guest list (with video) [two actually, including the one below] included such notable conservatives as – Andrea Mitchell, Dana Milbank, Chris Matthews, Ana Marie Cox, Norah O’Donnell, Frank Foer, Evan (Obama is god) Thomas, Michael Isikoff and Bill Press?
A bit further down, Dan Riehl continued:
I’m not going to go on about him, as frankly, I’d probably go over the top right now. The fact is, this conservative MSNBC host, who all too often comes across as clownish to be good for Conservatism in my view, is joining in the movement – enabled by his mainstream media pals – to run Conservatism and conservatives down for personal gain. But I will say this.
When someone aligns himself with something only to undermine it with the help of the opposition, useful idiot is the commonly accepted term. But I can’t really call Scarborough that, as I’ve never found him to be that useful for anything serious at all.
If my local library gets a copy of his book, I will confirm my suspicion the reason prominent liberal pundits loved it enough to throw Scarborough a party was it bashes the last President. Scarborough on the MSLSD TV channel comes off to me as another squishy Republican looking to beat the rats into the lifeboat. Bon voyage, Joe.

What a list of certifiable nut jobs. And in order to coexist and actually be liked by this cadre Joe had to become just another conservative apologist. He and many republicans have really gone astray. Conservatism is never actually about the man whether he is Bush, Reagan or Gingrich; it is about principles and the men we elect are the vessels that act as stewards for principles that are ageless. Of course we welcome new ideas, get rid of old ones and fine-tune what works but you don’t change the principles and values that the tent contains in order to expand it.
ML’s book is number one for 9 out of 10 weeks on the Slime’s bestseller list and it gets not a hint of mainstream recognition even though it is like ignoring an elephant in a room that is stepping on your foot. Since mainstream is that liberal and obvious in its avoidance such treatment is probably the best of all recommendations from any one related to this crowd.
Mark has had this guy pegged for a long, long time…and calls him by the right name.
Scarborough has accepted the media’s interpretation of what a Conservative is, and has built upon that foundation. This is why the state run media will love his book – it makes sense to them because it fits into their world view. After watching the above clip, I’m left with the impression that he is standing on a giant sand dune with a MSM megaphone. While it’ll be amusing to watch the state run media trip over itself to have him on as a guest (just watch Oprah jump on this book!), those of us who truly get Conservatism will be disgusted by blatantly obvious snub directed towards Mark Levin. And a quick review of the book reviewers (on Amazon) shows that the positives are mainly from east coast RINOland…no shock there!
‘Squishy Republican’ is truly an accurate description, and there are a lot of squishies out there. I hear them all the time – “Rush and Hannity are too far right” and “Man, that Levin guy is rude, obnoxious and yells too much”. Quite often these are the people that only take a passing interest in the political world, and very often these are the ones that feel they have no control over the economy. The brain has been turned off for a while and the idea of turning it on is just a bit too much for the squishies. I want to yell “WAKE UP!!!” Rush, Hannity, Boortz, Ingraham, Malkin, Levin, and others are loud and passionate because they can see where all this squishiness is heading. How can you build something if you compromise on the foundation? It’s like building on a sand dune and then thinking erosion is something that happens to someone else.
Every year there are hundreds of writers that vie for your attention. I’ve wasted my money on squishies in the past, only to discover I didn’t learn anything new. Many of you have gone through the squishy phase and have arrived here. Why relive it? There is only one book to read if you are a Conservative. All the others are just fluff.
Old Joe sucks……
Mark drew about 6000…and no telling how many walked away.
Joe drew 200.

ROFL
I posted a comment which probably will not make publication….
“It’s interesting that Newsday covered this author’s book signing.
A few months ago, Mark Levin, also appearing on WABC,
did a similar event at the Book Revue.
6000 showed up for Liberty & Tyranny, versus the 200 that showed
for this event.
Is Newsday biased, or just incompetent?”
