While you might say listening to Obama amounts to torture, these two clips are brief so listen and be informed just in case you unfortunately converse with a leftist idiot (redundant) about the press conference President Obama held last night. Mark Levin and I suffered through it; you’re tough and can handle it as well.
First off, Obama confirmed what former Vice President Cheney has stated, aggressive interrogation techniques worked, they led to the capture of top al Qaeda killers like KSM and dirty bomber plotters Jose Padilla and Binyam Mohamed, and stopped the second wave of attacks that included a plan to hit the Liberty Tower in Los Angeles. Leftists like to point to Ali Soufan’s speculation that less aggressive techniques would have worked but that’s all it is, speculation. Mark nailed Obama while he was speaking:
Then there are these 22 seconds of Obama’s toro poo-poo (pardon my Spanish):
Obama made that story up. Historical records show that like America, England treated POWs far better than most nations yet hanged spies and saboteurs. Follow these two links here and here and you will see from where Obama conjured that story up about Winston Churchill. You will learn that the Brits didn’t exactly read German spies their rights. Those threats Sullivan’s article points out were deadly warnings; all spies were interrogated, most cooperated, and those that did not cooperate were hanged. Here is the proof:
While the maps [for our D-Day invasion of Normandy] were evolving, a group of intelligence officers was busy crafting the greatest hoax of the war  a spy-running operation that was not fully revealed until the 1980s. Earlier in the war, British counterintelligence officers gave captured German spies a simple choice: Be hanged or work for us. Most chose to live. Directed by their handlers, the turncoats used seemingly clandestine radios to transmit to German spymasters a mix of real and counterfeit information. The operation, run by the wryly named XX (double cross) Committee, was meant to convince the German high command that the invasion would strike at either Nazi-held Norway or at Calais, across the English Channel from Dover.
…
An XX committee operative added her contribution by reporting to the Germans that she was dating a staff officer of the nonexistent U.S. Fourteenth Army, which had moved its headquarters to the Dover area, opposite Calais, to prepare the invasion. (So complete was the deception that Fourteenth Army shoulder patches appeared alongside real ones in a 1944 National Geographic booklet on U.S. armed forces insignia.)But what about reports the Nazis were receiving of a Normandy invasion? That, said the Germans’ most trusted spy (and XX’s star performer) would only be a diversion. A message sent on June 9â€â€and read by Hitler himselfâ€â€warned that D-Day was a trap designed to draw off German reserves so that the Allies could launch a decisive attack, “probably … in the Pas de Calais area.” The ruse would keep German forces in Calais for weeks after D-Day, awaiting the “real” invasion. — ‘Untold Stories of D-Day,’ by Thomas B. Allen National Geographic Magazine, June 2002
While mock executions were later prohibited by the Geneva Conventions, the British were not kidding and they obviously did not have the Bush administration’s OLC lawyers constraining them. Our laws still authorize executions for spies, traitors, saboteurs, and murderers. The British hanged 16 spies during WWII. America dropped a few of the enemy through the trap door as well, back when it was a matter of them or us. We better get just as smart real soon.
Update: Maybe Jonah Goldberg reads this site, seeing how I sited here, yesterday morning, two of the sources he used today. Hey, he could do a lot worse. Go see what he wrote nonetheless for he adds additional evidence of Obama’s fractured hindsight of history.
Update II: Poor Obama. Now even ABC’s Jake Tapper has weighed in.

Great post, Sgt. Tim! I was scratching my head when I heard him mentioning Churchill…given his family history.
I’m glad I opted to watch the only programming with the correct title last night, Lie To Me on my local Fox affiliate.
Obama has a lot more in common with the sentiments of Ward Churchill than he does with Winston Churchill.
For too long we have listened to the rhetoric of those intoxicated with self-indulgent flattery, use Bush and Cheney as the backdrop to advance their agendas of collective benevolence while simultaneously dismissing decades of history that portray a set of facts that more correctly bespeaks of a compassion closer to Hades than to Heaven. They are factual liars and ineloquent sophists who have long ago spent my patience and I have no intention of ever replenishing that account in any attempt to correct the record. Are we that far removed from the D-Day stories, both told and untold, 911, ethnic cleansing, international Al Quida atrocities and so much other barbarism that is both current and relevant to the thousands of years of history that we can afford to risk the lives of the innocent to procure an idealism promulgated solely by academic elites who often function as dysfunctional misfits when challenged by real world circumstances? These are the elites whose world perspective, has been fundamentally crafted by a Ward Churchill clone who delights in comparisons between Cheney and the Marquis de Sade while himself hiding in a University Department heavily funded by the toil of taxpayers and protected by tenure; their real world perspective is about as close to real world experiences as is the resume of a community agitator who primarily views government as a feeding trough in an Orwellian novel. If it were not for our intelligence gathering, military and police we would be a lot closer to hell than to heaven and Jonah Goldberg clearly was on target when he wrote about the civilian Dresden bombing ordered by the same Churchill that Obama felt in sync with regarding his reluctance to use torture. Apparently Winston Churchill felt the slaughter of innocent civilian Germans was the right thing to do to prevent the slaughter of innocent British civilians and he not only knew that the Germans would have done the same thing, if they could, but he was obviously unconcerned with the pursuit of any alternative suicidal idealism.
The statist and their supporters love to employ relativism relative to absolutes so this area, where there never will be any clear line of demarcation between happiness, sadness, depression, comfort, discomfort, pain, suffering and anguish will provide a never ending continuum of subjectivity for their controversies. I spent the greater part of my life in a vocation arguing with suffering and that knowledge also embodies a dark understanding of things most people would never want to fully comprehend. It is in that vein that those who oppose interrogation believe that an interrogator can often obtain a confession that cannot be ascertained to be true or false because any information will cause the interrogation to cease. In reality the results of an interrogation are often compared with the results obtained by other interrogations, just as in any court proceedings, and that information, when sufficiently consistent leads to the truth.
The same people who believe that the ends justifies the means when whole governments are overthrown and millions are slaughtered in the quest for utopia are still consistent in the alternative view whereby almost no means justifies an end that prevents the unnecessary slaughter of millions for that same vision of utopia. Should they eventually get their way I suspect such an ideological victory may fulfill a Pyrrhic definition where such a victory loses the war and all the ideology along with it as well.
Obama sympathizes with Churchill in about the same way that Churchill sympathized with the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya, Obama’s probably birthplace and paternal home. The British and Churchill also took a hard line in India and history has abundantly recorded what happed there.
If you really wonder about how the British felt about torturing Germans you need to ask, not the British, but the Irish who would have quite a different tale to tell including what happened to them under seven hundred years of British rule.
SgtTim – There is no shame in using the spanish version of BS. BTW, if you want to use the correct term, it is “MIERDE de TORO”.
Anyway, are we going to be able ban Obama for torturing us for four years, or is that going to have to be “properly vetted” through the MSM?
Thank,s mark your true american
