I did not listen to the speech live. I knew that he was going to appeal to what people wanted to hear regardless of what he said. It is the sound of the rhetoric that inspires his audiences. Rhetoric never created a job and hope of change never improved a person’s life. What was said the untrained ear could not hear but conservatives clearly heard big government solutions superseding individual responsibility and personal incentive? That is why the new political genre is so antagonistic to conservatives such as Limbaugh that seeks for Obama to fail. Limbaugh rightly deciphered the not too subtle agenda advocating even bigger big government, which translates as in your face, expensive new and forever expanding bureaucratic quagmires that saturate the near and far horizons of the political landscape. Obama is creating, and we are financing, large seedpods of government power disguised as solutions but really represent stagnant tax draining, liberty robbing roadblocks to entrepreneurial American endeavor. Worse yet is that these seedpods contain smaller seedpods that contain yet even smaller seedpods for additional bureaucracies that in turn keep growing and expanding to the extent that eventually there will be a controlling, expensive governmental influence in every town, on every block and on every street in America that has a lot to say about what you can or cannot do, and when you are scheduled to do it, after you receive permission from bureaucrats who know squat about commerce, trade and free market solutions for the local inhabitants who understand their own situations, problems and solutions best.
It is not difficult to hear who gets the blame. This is anti-capitalist rhetoric and it would be nice and convenient to co-garner some republican support to solidify the blame for the eventual failure. Let us not forget that it is not just conservatives that want Obama to fail. Should our way of life come to an end it will be because these solutions were designed to fail by its chief supporter and in so doing forever establish the egalitarian remedy that was, after all, necessary to cure the perceived excesses of capitalism and greed that perpetuated this current economic meltdown. A crisis begets pain, that begets blame but ultimately it is the sophistry of the oration that is responsible for who takes the hit. This man uses the pulpit to accuse in a way Bush never did or would. As one of the chief architects of this current crisis he will make sure that what he helped create succeeds to defeat and destroy capitalism. We have nothing to economically offer government because we do not need them so it is in their best interest to convince us that we failed. This is the ultimate irony. Limbaugh, conservatives and Obama see failure as the goal but it is what emerges from the ashes that Obama has his eye on as he pre-builds the infrastructure for the new order and the new way. We are witnessing a philosophical restructuring of the greatest country ever created. He lied when he took the oath of office. He came not to fulfill his constitutional duties but to destroy that document and the very principles that empowered the authors to write it.
Obama said a lot more in that speech than most people ever heard. Some heard hope and change, form over substance, faith over facts, while others heard the massive government message loud and clear. It is amazing that he assumes the philosophical mantle of the very parents that abandoned him early on, and is attempting to create the nanny state of their dreams, when in fact they could not even properly nurture him. But then again sometimes those who struggle to endear the affection of failed parents blame themselves and in so doing hope to become the progeny those parents would most admire. Unfortunately for the rest of us, to satisfy those expectations, he would have to hate and punish the society that they never liked. Certainly with that in mind, and as President, he is exactly the son that would garner their greatest admiration.
If Americans want hope and change they need to understand who they are and what they have and exactly what change they voted for. When you really get down to the wire Obama offered change from the policies of George Bush who was not running for office and was not responsible for this economy. He didn’t have to try hard because the media did most of the work. To the extent that he will own the failed results of this current legislation it is up to the republicans to make a case for their clear resistance to these policies, but even more than that they must be prepared to defeat the sure and certain attempt to blame today’s planned failure on the legacy of yesterday’s administration. That is their strategy and once again the drumbeat of the media will provide reinforcement. Our advantage is that we already know what to expect. Should we fail again get used to the idea that future generations of buyer’s remorse will not put America back together again because although this goliath spending package marked the DOB of American fascism it had another more significant and nefarious objective. The creation of new wide and deep political, legal and government infrastructure will so hamper personal and corporate risk taking outside of government that this stimulus bill should really be called “Capitalism RIP 2009â€Â. Liberty, freedom, choice and happiness will be shifted from all of us, as individuals, to government agencies who will happily consider our vote as a white flag of surrender whereby all of the aforementioned will become theirs to unevenly dispense to whatever group and cause they determine will reinforce their authority and time in office. If America is confused over what they didn’t hear, should Obama get his way, we will become a most politically astute people, but as is always the case, it will be posthumously where freedom and liberty no longer exist as the very tools required tools to get them back.
