Unfortunately this is a brilliant and perfect toon that captures the election.

This election is not a referendum on socialism as it was for a perceived defeat for capitalism. People buy much in life, without trying it beforehand and end up with buyer’s remorse later on. Obama is who he always said he was all his life so I have no delusions about him finding the center. McCain actually deserved to lose and Obama didn’t deserve to win but unfortunately America, bereft of sufficient voters who are students of history, will pay an unimaginable Constitutional and economic price.

We did not choose McCain; the party moderate insiders did and were aided and abetted by a primary stocked with democrats (look how NH finally voted), evangelists that salivated over Huckabee, who himself would not step down to get out of the way and Charlie Christ who endorsed McCain in Florida, the weekend before the primary election, when he saw that Romney led in the polls. That primary put McCain in the lead and gave him the inertia to cross the finish line. All these moderates saw their political futures tied to a McCain victory and not a Romney outsider. There is a significant difference between Romney and McCain but there is more than a chasm of difference between McCain and Obama.

McCain himself became the victim of a relentless media castigation that never reported the real Obama story while constantly making the main read about McCain and Palin on issues that were of little consequence. Who among us did not predict this? People worry about reproductive issues more than they worry about nuclear incineration of their children. McCain has always remained above the fray of negative campaigning where he could have used a wonderful plethora of truthful damning and damaging material on major issues. Ultimately he also ironically became a victim of McCain Feingold and public financing that was the very legacy of his masterful attempt to prevent what occurred. It, like World socialism, achieved the opposite of its’ intended goal. That is what happens when you tamper with the first Amendment; and yet we are about to do the same with the entire Constitution.

Beyond that is the sophomoric attitude of the uneducated masses that the World has seen vote for Castro, Chavez, Hitler, Mussolini and so many others. Now they vote on race (African Americans), and for “The sermon on the Mount”, for a man who only existed 143 days in government, arose from the nation’s most corrupt county, never ran any business for profit, never had to deal with negative consequences, has accomplished absolutely nothing and is a devout socialist fueled by Marxist parents and mentors. And they talk about Palin’s inexperience. Obama arose to power during the perfect economic storm, actually created by Fannie and Freddie, along with the CRA for which those congressional democrats, till this day, still support. In my line of work I do not offer an additional disease as a cure for the existing one and yet that is what the American population has done. An intelligent person would not blame Bush for Obama any more than they would blame Clinton for Bush. Only demagogues need an enemy to bypass issues and solutions. Does anyone remember FDR, that, to me, was a four-term loser that extended the Depression using the exact same socialist Keynesian recovery tactics that caused the Democrat Al Smith to state that the democrat party had become the party of Stalin, Lenin and Marx? Most people don’t remember this and that is why history repeats itself. I often find myself repeating the wisdom of John Adams who concluded that this country will survive on the educations of its’ constituents. I own an American history book written in the 1890’s, and was used to teach in American high schools at the time. You would need a college education to read it by today’s standards yet its’ updated likeness should be required reading for every American student and immigrant that is an American citizen. But first we would have to have the teachers do the same and I suspect many would have to give up the profession and go back to school and actually become educated themselves.

Ultimately pain is the ultimate teacher that makes the student ready to learn. I have never seen socialism fix a thing and certainly never fix itself; it just keeps advancing forward. A high school friend of mine goes back to his native Germany and kisses the tarmac every time he returns to America. Now that he is retiring he plans to permanently move back because he saw the exact same thing happen in his country and, as a very wise student of history, easily connects the dots and sees no differences as to what is occurring here. Nothing is forever and no one would imagine 9/11, nor could the Japanese imagine two atomic weapons detonated in their population centers. Most World tragedies occurred despite the fact that people never considered that their short lives would ever change. They did, big time, for themselves and their families.

Hats off to Sgt. Tim, who predicted this months ago when we chose McCain as the candidate. He was right and I was wrong, although I never suspected the timing of the sub prime meltdown and the lack of media coverage, as well as McCains’s failure to correctly address it. Obviously the political impact could not be overcome. However, had we had a strong conservative candidate, vested in conservative economics, I believe he would have, not only overcome this economic dilemma, but would have used it as the weapon, it should have been, to defeat Obama.

Obama is not the disease; on the contrary, he is the symptom of the disease called republican moderation.

  2. Sgt Tim says:

No matter how hard nor long the winter, Spring will come… Liberty will not die from God’s good earth while hearts still beat in mankind’s chest.

(Task, my brother, I take no solace from being right. )

  3. R. Boris T. says:

Task says that if we had a conservative candidate we might have won. This is a tempting thought but untrue. We conservatives wanted a true conservative yes; but McCain was perfectly acceptable to the majority of Americans, JUST NOT TO THE MSM. There is no Republican dream ticket to them! The MSM are the real reason we lost. We must not eat ourselves! I have a post on this here. Please consider it and let me know what you think.

  4. Sgt Tim says:

Hey Boris: As you are a blogger, you should know how to hyperlink text. (I’ve done your job for you in your comment here. If you do not know how, send me a PM and I’ll explain it to you.) Please do that in the future instead of self-promoting your blog here.

  5. R. Boris T. says:

    Sgt Tim,
Thanks for the site and posting my comment. I am not really a blogger- more an amature writer trying to add to the conversation. My intention in posting that way was to keep it brief and not waste your space. I do not know how to hyperlink text so any help is appreciated- or any suggestions on better etiquitte/ protocol. — Thanks, Boris

You’re welcome, and welcome here. If you place your cursor over your name, you’ll note that your name is already linked to your Townhall blog. My point above was that you should hyperlink within comments to specific posts there, in order to go to the specific, relative one you wish folks to view. Otherwise, people are left to guess. The code is easy to learn.

  6. task says:

McCain was the media darling and look what they did to him, Richard Nixon once threw down a paper and exclaimed; “The way things are reported it is amazing that any Republicans ever get elected”. You can expect the media to criticize any republican and when the NY Times endorsed McCain it was like the Mafia death kiss. He was the one that they could criticize most easily and most resembled a liberal. We all felt he was worst candidate because he cannot often be distinguished from his opponent.

A real conservative, such as Romney, would have ratted the Obama borrow, tax and spend plan and attached him to the economic debacle because of his association with ACORN, the CRA and Fannie and Freddie and simultaneously debunked the myth that deregulation was the cause of the meltdown. Deregulation does many good things. The facts testifhy to the very opposite, that the Congress was responsible for the oversight of Fannie and Freddie and not only did they not do their job, but were dishonest about what they discovered and then continued to peddle the concept, that these risky inferred government backed securities were solvent, and a good buy, and a wonderful repository for the Wall Street purchases. In fact it was Congress that originally made them exempt from SEC oversight. In a deregulated free market with transparency, Fannie and Freddie would have died a long time ago. The entire economic meltdown should have been surgically attached to Obama; McCain, who is not a true conservative, was weak on understanding economics. If I were debating Obama I would have shifted every debate towards his idiotic economic recovery plan and I can tell you that way before it was over Obama would have been hemorrhaging from every orifice. And I am not Romney.

  7. R. Boris T. says:

I’m seeing this argument all over, on the web and even talk radio: We lost because our candidate wasn’t conservative enough. A real conservative would have won. The American people want a Reagan. This is dead wrong. And I can prove it.

We have to get this right. We MUST. We have to know why we actually lost if we are to turn this around.

For the record: I DO NOT PREFER MODERATES! I am a right-wing Christian conservative down the line.

Here is the basic argument: The press likes moderate republicans because moderates can’t win the general election. The press picked McCain because he was the most moderate and therefore would lose. McCain lost because the voters did not get excited about his message, it wasn’t conservative enough. So, since there wasn’t a real conservative, they picked a very liberal candidate instead. Say what???

They say that most powerful lie has lots of truth in it. Yes the press wanted a moderate republican, only because there was no liberal republican. The press wants moderates because they hate conservatives. And maybe they do think a moderate will lose, but in truth, if he wins he’s not AS BAD as a conservative (to the press). So far this is true.

But why would a moderate lose the election? Here’s where the theory goes wrong. Here is where we conservatives are getting this ALL WRONG.

Do republicans risk losing elections by nominating moderates? Yes. But get this right. Moderates lose the BASE, not the wide middle. For obvious reasons, including ground organization, and sheer numbers in a close election, candidates cannot win without their base. This is the ONLY reason moderates lose. They risk losing the base; no money, no work, no turnout.

McCain did not lose the base. Palin rescued the base for McCain. The American people DO NOT automatically reject moderates, and love strong conservatives. They elected Clinton; they elected Bush 41; for goodness sake they just elected Obama!! Think about it!

If you think a “real” conservative would have won, look down the ticket! There were plenty of REAL conservatives running for congress, governors, state houses, on and on. In my town, we had several very strong conservatives run and lose, in one case, to a very liberal incumbent who has been mired in corruption! All over America, with a few notable exceptions, conservatives lost.

But why is that, if as we say (and I believe) most people are mostly center right? Seriously, is it because the people are saying, “If I have to vote for a moderate instead of a strong conservative, I’ll vote liberal instead”? Ridiculous!

We lost because the MSM is still VERY powerful. It is the fourth branch. It is extremely and openly biased. It is the reason our President is unpopular, the reason Democrats escaped blame for the meltdown, the reason Obama got glowing coverage, and the reason McCain Palin got relentlessly torn down.

The press is the reason we lost.

  8. RightinLA says:

The prime reason for the election loss was a strong public dislike for the Bush administration by conservatives and liberals alike. This was amplified by the financial crisis. A crisis largely created by the Democrats before and during Bush’s watch. I believe Hillary Clinton would have won this election as well, perhaps even more convincingly.

The Republican control of Congress between 2000 – 2006 was a disaster for Republicans. I know several strong conservatives that believed this “blood letting” of Republicans was necessary for the party to realign itself along true conservative principles.

The MSM has always been against conservatives and Republicans as long as I can remember. This time the Republicans handed them the ammunition just as Nixon and Agnew did.

  9. task says:

Very good Boris… you clearly get half of the story. In fact I have never seen such a media blackout related to Obama coupled with an aggressive media bias against McCain. Republicans, and even conservatives, lost in certain areas because Obama had coattails. Even I have to look up what each candidate stood for and I can tell you that when most people vote they vote down the party line. I did as well.

I have never ever seen a media favorable towards republicans, so that is the constant in the equation for all elections. Under these circumstances you do not nominate a moderate, that sounds like his economic plan is worse than the liberal’s plan, who people think will govern from the middle, while the McCain plan appears to be written by George Bush who everyone is convinced caused the problem. Don’t expect the media to clarify this so you need someone, with fire in his belly, who can punch through the expected media bias. I had to explain this to a group of women, who totally believed that Obama was going to govern, not from the middle, but astonishingly, from the right. I ordered another drink before I replied and told them that their analogy was comparable to a rapist mandating that they remove their clothes with the full faith and trust that he would go no further.

If the media was on our side John McCain could have gotten elected if he were Jack the Ripper but since they weren’t, and never will be, they made Obama seem like Jack Bauer from the TV episode 24.

You know why ML is so popular and why I recognized it years before his show. It is because he is a conservative with fire in his speech, who articulates the conservative message very well, takes no prisoners and does not coddle the opposition. Conservatism needs to be sold and you can expect that, as long as we live, the media will sell socialism and will always bash conservatism.

No liberal will accept a moderate when they can get the real thing in a democrat and most moderates are liberals, in the first place, and that great swath in the center that Al Smith called the regular fellow, the middle class, is to the right of center and needs to be brought back on board under the tutelage of a clear thinking, articulate conservative that punches right through the expected media bias.

By the way, an attorney friend of mind, a staunch conservative, did not vote because he so disliked McCain. In fact several friends of mine, who are close with Teddy Forstmann, felt that he was going to vote for Obama.

The international media is disgustingly biased and yesterday I listened to what the Germans had to say and it is even worse than our election media and they then added that we just killed 40 innocent Afghan citizens.

I have suggested many times that we need to buy one or more national TV news outlets, in addition to Fox, to mitigate the media bias. Most people don’t read the LA times and the Washington Compost and in those areas they vote for democrats every time anyway. I’m game to donate thousands of dollars, if not tens of thousands, towards the purchase of a new national TV news media. We always have to spot them ten points in every election. I say it is time to do the same to them and let them spot us twenty points.

  10. task says:

One more thing in regards to why we lost. John McCain should not have needed the accidental help of “Joe the Plumber” to make the economic case against spreading the wealth. By the time a solid conservative got through with Obama people would be counting their fingers as they searched for their wallets.

  11. FireFighter(formerly)4Bush says:

Thanks MD for so poignantly illustrating the feelings of many of us here.

Right Boris, bring on the knock-kneed spineless Republicans. They’ll save us. You should be a political strategist… for the OTHER SIDE!

Reagan got around those lying bastards. People know now, more than ever that these losers can’t be trusted! Look at their ratings and circulation numbers. IN THE TOILET! Mass layoffs at the propaganda mills!

Chris Shays, Lincoln Chafee, good riddance! And like the guy said on Rush today… Next time McCain goes across the isle, he should STAY THERE! Maybe he and Lieberman can start a new party. The rebels without a cause party!

  12. FireFighter(formerly)4Bush says:

Over 60% of Americans describe themselves as conservative. This is an established fact.

Whenever you have a clear choice between Socialism and Conservatism, CONSERVATISM ALWAYS WINS!

One needs to look no farther than Sarah Palin to see how a real conservative energizes patriotic Americans.

Here’s the key to winning elections: Conservative values.

Smaller government, less confiscation of property and income, protection of innocent life, personal empowerment/personal responsibility, belief in God and the Judeo/Christian values that are the foundation of this great country, and last but not least, fidelity to the U.S. Constitution.

Is this too much to ask? I think not!

The problem was with the positions that McCain took which were not conservative. Because McCain collaborated with the socialists so many times, I found it impossible to defend him. Conservatives want lower taxes. McCain voted against the Bush tax cuts. Obama is going to bankrupt the smokestack industries with this cap and trade foolishness. McCain holds the same position! McCain is against socialism but he voted for the biggest socialist bailout in American history? Immigration? McCain/Kennedy, McCain/Feingold, McCain/Lieberman… I didn’t come here to beat up on McCain, but how do I defend this? I voted for McCain, because he wasn’t a Marxist. But he is no conservative.

The Primary process needs to be closed. The Dems and MSM skewed the results. And that’s the problem. We must make sure that we get the most conservative person for the job next time

  13. DubInDallas says:

Amen, my brethren! This election has gotten me down, I must confess. Dick Morris’ column to the effect that this loss is actually a disguised blessing helped me come to grips with the situation. But not as much as coming back to visit here, again! It’s been too long!

  14. R. Boris T. says:

    Task-
I think you nailed it! Elections today are like a track race where the distance is the same for both runners, but the hurdles are set at ten feet for one, and two feet for the other. Yes firefighter, a Reagan can still win against those odds, but most of our candidates don’t! We can no longer accept this kind of institutional bias!

Republicans can bitch about Bush, but without the extremist left wing media, he would be (and deserves to be) a HERO. Yes he blew the spending issue, but how does that stack up against his response to 9-11? If he was seen as the hero he really is, who would be the president elect today?

Firefighter- you think all it takes to win is to be a conservative with a strong message? Look what the media is doing to Sarah Palin TODAY, RIGHT NOW. They are RIPPING her apart, and she’s not even running! Right now they are doing to her what they have done to W for eight years, DESTROY. They know she’s a star. Think about it.

The media have the ear of the American people and they are Serpent, whispering their poison against Palin. And what means do we have of mounting an equal defense? By the time 2012 rolls around, Palin will not have a ten-foot hurdle to jump; the media will have put a mountain in her way. And for Obama? A red carpet back to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Firefighter, I believe deeply in the principals you listed here and I am NOT advocating for moderates, I want true conservatives. But we need to see why we lost this battle if we are to start winning the war.

Task- I cheered when you said, “I’m game to donate thousands of dollars, if not tens of thousands, towards the purchase of a new national TV news media. We always have to spot them ten points in every election. I say it is time to do the same to them and let them spot us twenty points.”

I am of the opinion that we are already in a place of crisis in our nation. The creeping vines of socialism have begun to strangle us. One day soon we will have to stand, and say “This far, No further,” or lose our liberty as other nations have.

But if we still have time to fight politically, we must defeat the left wing monopoly on the main-stream media. Task, yes! More talk radio, more “Fox” TV networks, continue to grow and develop the new media. I am even of the opinion that we could have a Fox-type national newspaper network, with local affiliates.

Until we have more equal means of communication, ALL our candidates will be poisoned by the bitter left media.

  15. slickwillyman says:

10% of Conservatives did not vote for McCain. At first, I was not planning to vote because McCain held so many anti-Conservative positions. Closing Guantanamo, constantly implying that our troops “tortured” prisoners, conveying rights onto terrorists, jumping on the Global Warming bus headfirst, Amnesty for Illegals, anti-Bush Tax Cuts, Campaign Finance reform (with which he was hoisted by his own petard!), and attacking Romney for being successful in business were all reasons for me to not vote at all.

But, as more information emerged about Obama’s mentors, friends, and associates, I began to think that nothing was more important than to keep the Communist community organizer away from the “football” and the $700 billion “slush-fund”.

When McCain picked Palin, I was re-energized because Palin articulated Conservative ideas and values. However, in the debates, I did not see the man who said he was a “Reagan Foot Soldier” fight for Conservative principles at all! He failed to clearly distinguish himself from Obama on anything except the troop surge.

McCain’s proudest moment in the debates was when he made the claim that he went against his own party more than Obama went against his! Only an idiot can’t see that saying “I have betrayed my party more that you betrayed yours” is not only an empty point, but a self-damning statement!

McCain refrained from attacking Obama’s character directly. He only questioned Obama’s judgement in his choice of friends. He never made the connection that the reason Obama was in Rev Wright’s church and the reason Obama was friends with Ayers, Katz, and many other 60′s radicals, was that Obama himself was a committed radical!

Only Palin (going rogue) made this point! McCain probably still doesn’t grasp this concept! Even the mainstream media is beginning to question Obama’s radical tendencies and creepy self-absorbed nature.

McCain just went through the motions as just another candidate. “Joe the Plumber” was a gift to the uninspiring candidate. He used the “spread the wealth around” line many times but never drew the conclusion that Obama was a committed Socialist.

The ultimate insult to all Conservatives presently, is how McCain’s staff is now doing everything possible to destroy Palin! I don’t care if Palin can’t recite the top twenty Supreme Court Cases and explain them. I don’t care if she can’t name the capital and President of every country on Earth! It is far better to have a person represent us that has a general idea of what is right and what is wrong and what is moral and what is immoral than to have an over-educated elitist that triangulates himself between positions in order to gain the optimum political advantage!

No one exemplified the plain-truth speaking, common man than Ronald Reagan. That is why we revere him so much! We are tired of spinners, triangulators, appeasers, aisle crossers, cross-dressers, stall-shoe-tappers, deal-makers, and “Bipartisan” Republicans! It is time to rid the party of McCain, Guber Graham, and their ilk once and for all! I don’t care if it gives the Democrats 70 Senators! Rid the party of the “luke-warm” Repubs!

I understand that there is nothing more dreadful than Obama as President. However, if McCain had won, we would almost certainly have been betrayed by McCain over and over and over.

I believe the 10% of Conservatives that didn’t vote for McCain envisioned this future betrayal. We must now find a candidate that can articulate Conservatism to the hoards of uneducated voters that have never had its virtues explained. I feel confident that if explained to these people, they will come around. Instead of taking a poll to see what the uninformed idiot independents think, so that we can tell them what they want to hear, I say “screw the polls” and teach them Conservatism!

After all, there is the world as it is and the world as it should be, and it should be Conservative!

  16. task says:

    Slickwillyman,

You are on the right track, as in fact most of us are that have made comments on these election results.

The one thing I have to stress, that I don’t think has been properly elucidated, is in regards to how we get the conservative message across, even beyond media outlets where we must go head to head against the idiot talking drive-by drones and the liberal education establishment is a basic question. Why we are who we are?

Understand that for most of humankind’s existence he/she has never been free, even though that is a state where he/she achieves happiness and productivity and allows the fellow next door or in another part of the world to do similarly, so long as freedoms are not compromised for either. For most of humankind’s existence his/her freedom and productive has been owned and managed by tyrants and governments. If we are born with certain unalienable rights, given to us by God and Nature, how is this possible?

It is possible because we are not perfect and we have not perfectly evolved as we seek to be masters of our environments and free from what nature would or might do to us if we fail to make intelligent decisions and choices that move us forward as free individuals, achieving better lives for ourselves and our posterity; ultimately we do this by trading both commodities and ideas that allow us to die in a world that has advanced far beyond the one that we were born into.

Conservatives ascribe to the betterment of our species through individual liberty and freedom while others pursue that same objective, though a tribal concept, via forced solidarity, consistent with tribal socialism. In many respects the latter was part of our evolutionary heritage and it should be part of a past that is just as dead and buried as slavery and unequal suffrage. Unfortunately it is not yet vestigial and in fact the very part of our character that incites us to improve ourselves, by controlling our environment and personal lives, so that we can happily prosper, is the same behavior that stimulates others to achieve the same results my putting other men and women into bondage. Self-interest, or selfishness as Obama puts it, for the sake of ones self, family and friends is a virtue that improves society for all, not because that is its’ intent or purpose but because that is the natural result of such a process, as long as it does not trespass upon another’s freedom and liberty; that same self-interest, in a collectivist environment, paid for by the loss of individual freedom, stifles productivity and guarantees waste and inefficiency, once again, not because that was its’ intent, but because that is the natural result of such a process.

We are not born with the interest of the tribe in mind, but with our own interest in mind. Ultimately pursing our own self-interest benefits all because when we trade with each other, each party in the transaction comes away better off than they were before the transaction. This is why freedom and liberty is the true nature of man, despite the fact that throughout history some have used their freedom and self–interest, to achieve power and success, by confiscating and suppressing the natural rights for the citizens of entire nations. That is also why we need ordered liberty and why our government, through its’ founding and governing documents, was designed to insure that no tyrant, no criminal, and no mob, either domestic or international, would compromise American liberty and freedom.

In affect we get the conservative message across not by just teaching CONSERVATISM, which is the natural state for humankind, but on the contrary, by arguing to defeat SOCIALISM, because when socialism is defeated, liberty, freedom and justice for all is what remains and conservatism thrives.

Almost invariable, each of us is born right-handed and we are also born with an inherent conservative behavior that is intertwined within our DNA. Would it not be strange if each of us had our right arm tied behind our back, from birth, to force us to use our left? That in effect is what liberalism does. It teaches principles, as early as it ca, that violate humankinds’ natural birthrights and instinctive pursuit of happiness that are ingrained and intertwined within our DNA.

  17. FireFighter(formerly)4Bush says:

Boris, as bad as the MSM is, I would never advocate to silence them because I believe in the 1st amendment. Like I said, they’re cutting their own throats, just stand out of the way and let them keep on.

What we can do is purge the party of linguine spined RINO’s and start fighting for what’s right! Here’s an example of the problem with today’s Republican Party. They don’t fight. This whole mess with Fannie-Mae and Freddie-Mac was a result of failed democrat socialist policies and political corruption on a massive scale. The Democrats, as they usually do, lie their butts off and put this whole thing around the necks of the Republicans. And then when the Democrats needed Republican votes to pass the biggest socialist waste of money in American History, the Republicans went right along with them. Where was the fight?

The Republicans are too interested in comity than fighting for what’s right. That’s the problem. I’m all for Republicans crossing the isle. But they should be doing it to wring Chuckie Schumer’s scrawny neck! I want some violence like those Japanese politicians! SMACKDOWN! Republicans… grow a pair dammit!

I WANT C-SPAN TO BEAT THE WWE IN THE RATINGS!

Now, here is an idea the will make some smart person billions of dollars. Start an ALL CONSERVATIVE television network. Complete with national news that will make Rupert Murdock’s Fox News Network look like CNN! Americans will flock to a TV network that doesn’t play those damn Viagra commercials every two minutes! I’m getting closer everyday to taking an axe to this TV of mine. Conservative TV is something that will work. Look at conservative radio to see how there is a thirst for good wholesome programming.

Boris, the problem is that Republicans don’t fight. You can’t do anything about the MSM so stop whining about them.

  18. FireFighter(formerly)4Bush says:

    Dick Armey gets it.

“The party just simply lost its way,” said Republican Dick Armey, the former House majority leader from Texas. “It was no longer about small government and individual liberties … and the party became enormously unattractive to the American people.”

Therein lies the problem. They abandoned conservatism. The Repubicans (sic) who said “The Party of Reagan is dead” are the problem.

  19. DubInDallas says:

Amen, my brethren! I’m glad that all of you are still out there! With the advent of the Obama Nation, I need all of you more than ever!

  20. FireFighter(formerly)4Bush says:

Dub, I’m with you bro. See if you can get “The Hammer” back in the game. We need him more than ever!

  21. R. Boris T. says:

I am concerned that we have very little or maybe no chance left to solve Americas problems in the political arena as is it today.

Republicans are kicking themselves for losing the election, and will spend the next few years “rebuilding” the party, and finding those Reagan like candidates, so next go we get our true conservative message out to the people. Thats good and we need true standard bearers.

But in the mean time, THOUSANDS of media outlets across the country will spend every day tearing us and those candidates down, like they’re doing to Palin right now, and building up the libs. If we had an objective press, Obama could not and WOULD not have been elected, period.

Who is the true conservative Candidate that will be loved by the press? Palin? Most of us are thrilled with her. But had she been the candidate this year, say starting in the primaries, could she have overcome the incredible media onslaught against her to win the election? And all the while Obama is hailed as King David.

Someone said we can’t change the media so just forget it and fix the party. The good news for you is you won’t be upset when your doctor tells you he can’t treat your cancer, but don’t worry, he is treating your cold.

We must deal with the msm.

  22. firefighter4bush says:

Hey Boris, “someone” here. What exactly do you propose to do about the MSM? Besides wringing your hands?

And I don’t know about other people, but I’m not kicking myself for losing the election. I did my part. I voted for a real conservative in the primary, sent his campaign money, and voted for the person who was most likely to defeat the Marxist in the general. I even helped purge a few RINO’s to start the rebuilding process.

Listening to you, some would get the impression that “it’s over” I refuse to surrender!

Do us all a favor. Lock yourself in a room. Play the Reagan speech for Goldwater until you have a POSITIVE outlook on the future. Here’s the link.

Firefighter- I also worked hard this campain- finshing as a poll observer. I am not wringing my hands, or giving up. I am saying two things- 1. Our fight MAY no longer be political. There was a point when our founders realized they would have to fight. Read Patrick Henry’s war inevitable. For our time the model will be the non-violent direct action of Martin Luther King Jr. Read Letter from a Birmingham Jail.

    2. While our fight IS still a political one, we better recognize the real reason we are losing EVEN if it seems insurmountable.

Last, I actually DO have a plan for countering the msm to win elections that is NOT insurmountable but in fact very acheivable.

Pardon me for mistaking your defeatist attitude for hand wringing. I’m still waiting to hear something positive. John Kerry had a plan too. And like yours, we still don’t know what is is.

I will point your attention to the NRO corner top right of this page, to the post at: 11/07/2008 10:09 PM . NRO is making my case too.

  26. firefighter4bush says:

    Boris, you’re confusing me.

    Paraphrasing, you said…

    “I am saying two things-

    1. Our fight MAY no longer be political.

    2. While our fight IS still a political one…”

    Huh?

And as for the trashing of Sarah Palin. This is yet another perfect example of how the MSM is cutting their own throats. Except this time, they are using a chainsaw instead of a pocket knife!

Patriotic Americans love this woman and what she stands for. Attacking her in this absolutely ridiculous manner using an anonymous source is beyond the pale.

What this whole episode tells me is that they, the MSM, are deathly afraid of her. Why? Because she was able to bypass the media filter and speak effectively to the American people. She was in the spotlight for nine weeks! Look at the enthusiasm she was able to generate.

Like many before her, Gingrich, DeLay, et al, they were attacked using Stalinist tactics. Let them keep on. Americans are smart enough to know what’s happening here.

  27. firefighter4bush says:

Boris I don’t know what you read but Victor Davis Hanson is making my case, which is that the MSM has blown up their credibility and has rendered themselves irrelevant. You seem to think the MSM is still an effective threat to our political process.

Let’s continue this discussion in the forum. We are way off topic here. Thanks MLF for the leeway.
