Mark Levin writes:
I’ve been thinking this for a while so I might as well air it here. I honestly never thought we’d see such a thing in our country – not yet anyway – but I sense what’s occurring in this election is a recklessness and abandonment of rationality that has preceded the voluntary surrender of liberty and security in other places. I can’t help but observe that even some conservatives are caught in the moment as their attempts at explaining their support for Barack Obama are unpersuasive and even illogical. And the pull appears to be rather strong. Ken Adelman, Doug Kmiec, and others, reach for the usual platitudes in explaining themselves but are utterly incoherent. Even non-conservatives with significant public policy and real world experiences, such as Colin Powell and Charles Fried, find Obama alluring but can’t explain themselves in an intelligent way.
There is a cult-like atmosphere around Barack Obama, which his campaign has carefully and successfully fabricated, which concerns me. The messiah complex. Fainting audience members at rallies. Special Obama flags and an Obama presidential seal. A graphic with the portrayal of the globe and Obama’s name on it, which adorns everything from Obama’s plane to his street literature. Young school children singing songs praising Obama. Teenagers wearing camouflage outfits and marching in military order chanting Obama’s name and the professions he is going to open to them. An Obama world tour, culminating in a speech in Berlin where Obama proclaims we are all citizens of the world. I dare say, this is ominous stuff.
Even the media are drawn to the allure that is Obama. Yes, the media are liberal. Even so, it is obvious that this election is different. The media are open and brazen in their attempts to influence the outcome of this election. I’ve never seen anything like it. Virtually all evidence of Obama’s past influences and radicalism  from Jeremiah Wright to William Ayers  have been raised by non-traditional news sources. The media’s role has been to ignore it as long as possible, then mention it if they must, and finally dismiss it and those who raise it in the first place. It’s as if the media use the Obama campaign’s talking points  its preposterous assertions that Obama didn’t hear Wright from the pulpit railing about black liberation, whites, Jews, etc., that Obama had no idea Ayers was a domestic terrorist despite their close political, social, and working relationship, etc.  to protect Obama from legitimate and routine scrutiny. And because journalists have also become commentators, it is hard to miss their almost uniform admiration for Obama and excitement about an Obama presidency. So in the tank are the media for Obama that for months we’ve read news stories and opinion pieces insisting that if Obama is not elected president it will be due to white racism. And, of course, while experience is crucial in assessing Sarah Palin’s qualifications for vice president, no such standard is applied to Obama’s qualifications for president. (No longer is it acceptable to minimize the work of a community organizer.) Charles Gibson and Katie Couric sought to humiliate Palin. They would never and have never tried such an approach with Obama.
But beyond the elites and the media, my greatest concern is whether this election will show a majority of the voters susceptible to the appeal of a charismatic demagogue. This may seem a harsh term to some, and no doubt will to Obama supporters, but it is a perfectly appropriate characterization. Obama’s entire campaign is built on class warfare and human envy. The “change” he peddles is not new. We’ve seen it before. It is change that diminishes individual liberty for the soft authoritarianism of socialism. It is a populist appeal that disguises government mandated wealth redistribution as tax cuts for the middle class, falsely blames capitalism for the social policies and government corruption (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) that led to the current turmoil in our financial markets, fuels contempt for commerce and trade by stigmatizing those who run successful small and large businesses, and exploits human imperfection as a justification for a massive expansion of centralized government. Obama’s appeal to the middle class is an appeal to the “the proletariat,” as an infamous philosopher once described it, about which a mythology has been created. Rather than pursue the American Dream, he insists that the American Dream has arbitrary limits, limits Obama would set for the rest of us  today it’s $250,000 for businesses and even less for individuals. If the individual dares to succeed beyond the limits set by Obama, he is punished for he’s now officially “rich.” The value of his physical and intellectual labor must be confiscated in greater amounts for the good of the proletariat (the middle class). And so it is that the middle class, the birth-child of capitalism, is both celebrated and enslaved  for its own good and the greater good. The “hope” Obama represents, therefore, is not hope at all. It is the misery of his utopianism imposed on the individual.
Unlike past Democrat presidential candidates, Obama is a hardened ideologue. He’s not interested in playing around the edges. He seeks “fundamental change,” i.e., to remake society. And if the Democrats control Congress with super-majorities led by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, he will get much of what he demands.
The question is whether enough Americans understand what’s at stake in this election and, if they do, whether they care. Is the allure of a charismatic demagogue so strong that the usually sober American people are willing to risk an Obama presidency? After all, it ensnared Adelman, Kmiec, Powell, Fried, and numerous others. And while America will certainly survive, it will do so, in many respects, as a different place.

An Open Letter to Mark Levin
Dear Mark,
When we will begin to fight the “soft Tyranny” that already exists?
Please read my letter to you.full post here: http://treeoflife.blogtownhall.com/
Boris: Here’s my ‘open letter’ to you:
What more can they do Boris? The philosophy we espouse has to be taken to our local communities. Of course we can do the obvious things like help candidates in our area, write letters to editors etc. But we’ve got to look for ways to better educate voters at the grassroots level. Let’s face it, the TV media, aside from Fox News, is not going to help us. We’ve got to find ways locally to compensate for that disadvantage.
Fox News with Chris Wallace? I doubt it. By his “misadventures” comment on todays FNS, he appears to be trying to alienate McCain from Palin when he draws ridiculous parallels between Joe Biden’s and Sarah Palin’s statements on the campaign trail. It is obvious to me and by McCain’s own admission that Sarah Palin is a great campaigner. McCain is proud of her, as he has continually repeated. She adds life and invigorates the McCain-Palin ticket. It is obvious that the opposite is true with the Obama-Biden ticket. So where is the parallel?
It is too bad for Wallace that is his ego is hurt. He doesn’t get a Palin interview and he may still be smarting from Bill Clinton’s past “Fox News hit job” comments. Perhaps he might want to join the crowd at MSNBC if he feels that way. There are plenty of better candidates to host FNS.
I read an article this morning regarding the (DIS)Hon. Judge R. Barclay Surrick’s dismissal of the Berg V Obama lawsuit and experienced a depth of sorrow I have not known since the death of my mother. Our founders are spinning in their graves! Our constitution has officially been rendered meaningless.
Obama has very deep pockets for a man who arguably has never been required to meet a payroll much less held an honest job in his life. I believe the depth of those pockets are beyond our comprehension and am convinced include massive ‘contributions’ from foreign governments including enemies of the state. Accomplishments…non existent, with one exception, his ability to spin self aggrandizing fiction without one shred of accountability.
The gaps in his resume are reprehensible! We know that he would be disqualified to pass the FBI requirements for top secret clearance and yet, this man will presume to lead the free world?
It is a moral imperative when casting your vote that you stop and consider which country/countries command his allegiance? He has shown contempt for our flag, our military, our history, and our values, I suggest it isn’t the good ‘ole USA. He has many personal friends who desire the destruction of Israel and are no doubt salivating in anticipation of his inauguration…
As for the other seven pending state lawsuits rumored to challenge “That One’s†citizenship, “we the people” hear nothing but silence… How is it possible for this Indonesian muslim to perpetuate such an egregious fraud on this nation? Are there no remaining ethical journalists or judges?
I have always scoffed at ‘conspiracy’ theories and considered myself a rational human being. I confess, the more I research this man, the more I find myself subject to panic. I hate that word….’panic’. It reflects helplessness, powerlessness, which I abhor. I now believe we are in the midst of a non violent overthrow of our republic with its roots firmly seeded in the sixties….. I know, I know, it sounds like work of fiction ‘in progress’….. I chastize myself routinely for allowing my mind to conclude such an improbable concept, but there it is…I simply can’t shake it.
Today liberal jurists comprise most of our courts. Liberals for all intensive purposes own our institutions of higher learning, media, most of the divisions of our justice dept, state dept, well they are pretty much in charge of everything of import in this country. I’ve never truly feared ‘Democrats’ before, but the question becomes how many of these influential liberals in powerful positions are radical leftists? We have no assurances that they are not Marxists like Obama and Ayers do we? How can we know? For all practical purposes the Fourth Estate is dead.
Historically we’ve always witnessed a swing in our political pendulum, absolutely… However, our constitution tended to render such shifts benign. In the new millenium it appears the constitution is no longer relevant… The fact that there remains a question with regards to the eligibility of Obama’s candidacy at this stage in the election process bears witness to something dark, perhaps I daresay, even malevolent occurring, requiring massive complicity the likes of which boggles the mind?!?
I see no evidence of effective checks or balances anymore… Obviously the DNC is fully complicit. They either did zero vetting of Obama (choosing to ignore the absolute basic requirement of citizenship) or are so focused on those inevitable minimum two to three Supreme Court seats they consider the end to justify the means. I seriously doubt the DNC comprehends the level of foreign (enemy) influence to which their candidate is subjected, considering they do not bother to screen his donations. Make no mistake, the historical Democratic Party is no more (Progressive…code word for socialist). “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your countryâ€Â…Imagine JFK’s reaction if he were alive today to hear Obama’s “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needâ€Â!
Knowing what very little we do know about Obama, it remains enigmatic to me that traditional democrats could even entertain the thought of casting a vote for him. For one thing, imagine the Obama devotees reaction when they discover that he will be forced to institute the draft. Our brilliant volunteer military will not be willing to re-enlist with a Marxist as commander-in-chief. Brace yourselves for the inevitable civil unrest in this country when he comes after our second amendment rights with a democratic congress and the Supreme Court he plans on reshaping… May God Help us!
In my view, an Obama presidency will forever alter any semblance of balance in the world and portend the end of our republic. America (the dream of our forefathers) is dying. We have not heeded history’s lessons…. I’ve never prayed to be proven wrong in my lifetime, more than at this moment
Despite Al Smith’s stinging assessment of the FDR Administration in 1936 Roosevelt, nevertheless, was enthusiastically elected an additional three terms. This is stunning considering that this was the first time an anti-capitalist socialist remedy was catapulted into mainstream American values since the inception of America. However Woodrow Wilson felt about our Constitution, his lack of faith in checks and balances, his favoritism for a parliamentary system, and his disillusionment in our system’s failure to accurately ascribe blame he didn’t get elected for his two terms by great margins and never had a chance to pursue his leftist agenda into a third term let alone a fourth; and the Supreme Court still understood the Constitution and what liberty was about. Till this day we are dealing with democrats that are the children of those converted because of FDR.
Barack Obama is the fortunate recipient of luck, some of which is due to his own unintentional making, some because republicanism has been usurped by bipartisan moderation and some because of static and inflexible centralized Washington policy and oversight that has led to much, if not all, of today’s economic woes. Obama and his party contributed to the Fannie and Freddie meltdown, which put the dominos in motion but the compassionate conservatism of George Bush, is not conservatism and is barely republicanism. Between big compassionate spending, sub prime failure, diminished 401k’s, big bailouts, high-energy costs, an Obama media love fest, and an uninformed public, McCain is mired within a perfect storm whose blame is mostly portrayed as conservatism’s failure to regulate greedy failed markets and you can trust that the Marist left will use that falsehood to bury the ghost of Ronald Reagan that haunts them unmercifully. The greatest story never told is that this current economy is totally created by artificial government protectionism and not lazzie fare capitalism that would have saved the day by exterminating Fannie and Freddie a very long time ago.
When Lincoln spoke about liberty and the fact that it could mean liberty or tyranny depending on a man’s interpretation I say the same for patriotism. On Saturday I listened to Huckabee, the Romney killer, state that although Americans disagree politically we are all patriots. Maybe in his mind but I cannot forget that the world’s worst tyrants, such as Hitler and Stalin, believed that they were super patriots; and make no mistake about the fact that they did love their counties but they loved the power they confiscated even more. Acorn defies voting regulations that undermines their theme that the ends justify the means. When the left justifies any means to achieve tyranny I muse over the reticent, cautious and moderation of George Bush and John McCain to passively defend liberty under the banner of fairness. How would liberals feel if we used any means to justify liberty, a very worthy goal, because someday that may indeed be necessary? These current republican patriots were given the guardianship over a legacy of freedom purchased with the blood of generations of patriots that preceded them. Liberty and freedom deserve better stewardship and that is why I love Sarah Palin.
This County was founded upon liberty and as such most Americans have a conservative expectation of government’s function and purpose. We know that a country that defends liberty and freedom must first and foremost have a jurisprudence system of laws that are egalitarian for all individuals. We understand that a government requires financing to execute its’ limited business. And most of us understand that we cannot have a tax system that defies and denies the same egalitarian objectives that we expect from the equal application of law for all individuals. Yet this contradiction of liberty and freedom is exactly what socialist tax policy and redistribution is about.
Somehow, as a solution for our economic woes, we are supposed to accept a tax plan that creates two classes of people. One class, consisting of 50% of the population, is going to pay for the other 50%. Of those that pay, 45% will not see any increase in taxes, only the remaining 5%, along with a reduced military budget, will be responsible for a trillion dollars in new social spending. Socialism and communism are not orphan children; they cannot exist without living off the backs of the productive that they punish each and every day. Somehow if your efforts create wealth you are disenfranchised yet if you win the lottery, for which you did nothing, you are embraced. That is why I say to my Jewish friends and associates that your success will not go unnoticed and you will see the rise of anti-Semitism created by the very philosophy that you voted for. When group rights prevail no one will be afforded individual protection.
America was founded because of unfair taxation. What would those same spirited individuals, who refuse to be subjugated by English law, do in the face of this new threat to liberty and freedom? I think we already know the answer.
Those that have pushed and pulled the Trojan Horse of change though the gates of freedom will be consumed by its’ contents and as a result the America that I was born into will a lot different than the America I will die in.
This election is not over. Vote!
Hiya,
This video dovetails perfectly with Mark’s article, but in the first 60 seconds or so, you’ll realize what is missing in Mark’s piece and the rest of the video, especially the ending will blow you away. I tried to email Mark but I figure that he probably get’s about a zillion emails a day but I also suspect that you probably have access to him and can bring this to his attention:

Quixy,
The conspiracy theory related to Obama as not being a naturalized citizen will most likely not bare fruit because it will not be pursued. I don’t know what to make of it but it is unsettling since we still have unclear documentation of where he was born. Under naturalization law that existed (even now) when he was born his mother would have had to have spent 10 years in the US, five of which, after the age of fifteen, to confer citizenship had she given birth outside the US. She was 18 when she gave birth. Obama has a registration of birth in Hawaii but not what appears to be a legitimate birth certificate and there appears to be proof that he was actually born in a Kenyan hospital and that is what his African family maintains. If it were just a bunch of crazy right wing bloggers I would expect that simple and clear documentation would end the controversy. I have no idea if this is true but even if it was I doubt that we will ever know it.
Look where it got Jerome Corsi when he tried to link Obama with Muslim elections in Kenya when Obama spent an enormous number of hours speaking to Odinga, a Kenyan leader, who nearly won the election and currently shares power. He pitted the Odinga Muslims against the Kikuyous. The Kikuyous are best know for being Mau Mau, the group that resisted British colonialism, and gave rise to Robert Raurk’s book “Something of Value†based upon a Uruhu chief saying that “you do not give up something of value until you have something of value to replace it withâ€Â. That chief would be the first to understand why an Obama presidency is the very worst medicine that American needs as a substitute for George Bush mediocrity.
I just heard Rush Limbaugh wonder if Reverend Wright did not learn something from Obama because he was always a true believer and more knowledgeable than he was. I have been telling everyone what I think we all must know, that is that Obama does not just associate with Marxists. On the contrary they are the ones that seek to associate with him because he is their leader both in ideology and as the hero that will bring them all, out of the shadows, and into power.
