Stealing Elections: Barack Obama ‘marinated in ACORN’ says John Fund

Last night, Mark Levin spoke with John Fund, who writes the Political Diary for the Wall Street Journal and whose book ‘Stealing Elections: Revised and Updated: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy’ (Paperback) was just published this month. The evidence seems to show that liberals, including Barack Obama, are attempting to steal this election:

While the New York Times did in fact report yesterday that 400,000 of the 1.3 million voter registrations ACORN turned in were rejected by elections officials, they played a numbers game within that same report and (predictably) characterized Republicans as alarmists who wish only to unduly muddle the election results:

On Oct. 6, the community organizing group Acorn and an affiliated charity called Project Vote announced with jubilation that they had registered 1.3 million new voters. But it turns out the claim was a wild exaggeration, and the real number of newly registered voters nationwide is closer to 450,000, Project Vote’s executive director, Michael Slater, said in an interview. The remainder are registered voters who were changing their address and roughly 400,000 that were rejected by election officials for a variety of reasons, including duplicate registrations, incomplete forms and fraudulent submissions [all emphasis here added mine] from low-paid field workers trying to please their supervisors, Mr. Slater acknowledged. … the disclosure on Thursday that 30 percent of Acorn’s registrations were faulty was described by Republicans as further proof of what they said was Acorn’s effort to tilt the election unfairly. [READ THE REST and you will see what I mean about how the Times characterized Republicans as the bad guys].

Here are excerpts from two telling posts by Hans von Spakovsky at the Heritage Foundation’s blog on what the Justice Department is failing to do about the 200,000 known fraudulent voter registrations in Ohio:

Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA) does not authorize a lawsuit by a private party … private citizens have no statutory right to enforce HAVA. In fact, only the Attorney General of the United States is authorized by Section 401 to bring a civil action to enforce the statute. Which, of course, brings up the question: where in the world is Attorney General Michael Mukasey (and Acting Assistant Attorney General of Civil Rights Grace Becker) and why is the Department of Justice and its Civil Rights Division sitting on their hands and doing absolutely nothing to enforce HAVA? … The complete silence of the Department is a sign of either utter incompetence or political cowardice or a combination of both. Only Mukasey and Becker know for sure.

In more than four decades of operation, the Civil Rights Division has never hesitated to file lawsuits to enforce federal voting rights laws that govern access to the polls and the administration of elections even on the very eve of Election Day. The Georgia case shows that the Division doesn’t think “involving itself in litigation just before an election” is a problem when they are trying to stop compliance with HAVA’s verification provision; they only seem to have a problem filing litigation to enforce compliance with this requirement, a requirement that the liberal establishment wants to see stricken from HAVA.

It would be outrageous for DOJ to not investigate and prosecute serious claims of voter intimidation because of an impending election. It is just as outrageous for DOJ to not prosecute Ohio’s failure to verify the accuracy and authenticity of voter registration information, which could lead to legitimate votes being diluted by fraudulent ballots. My previous question from my original post seems to have been answered.

I recall both that Michael Mukasey is a good man and the words of Edmund Burke: “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

    Sgt Tim,

You are dead on. I used to be among the people feeling like Republicans should take the “high road”, but the lessons of the past 8 yrs. have proved to me that we are dealing with an enemy – and that’s truly what they are – that will take any advantage they can get, fair or otherwise. We almost always have right on our side. I still believe that the American people have an accute sense of right & wrong and – if given the facts – would support a fight for the truth. But we need people from our side to get engaged. I can understand President Bush not publically doing anything because that will only undercut McCain, but there have to be things he can be doing behind the scenes to make sure we have a fair election. The problem is the lefty libs are masters of spinning the message and they’d have everyone thinking this was collusion to somehow steal the election for McCain!

As Mark said someday this week, he’d like to debate that senator from NM and he wouldn’t follow the gentlemanly approach they use in the Senate. I agree, let’s take off the gloves and kick some liberal a**.
