House passes ‘sweetened’ bailout bill, 263-171

Monday, the bailout vote in the House was defeated 205 – 228. Today, after the Senate “sweetened” the plan with hundreds of millions of dollars in pork-barrel projects, they passed it 263 – 171 with the additional votes of 32 Democrats and 26 Republicans.

Yet proportionally, the greatest increase in support of the bailout was from the Congressional Black Caucas. While 19 CBC members voted against the measure four days ago, only Congressmen Butterfield, Clay, Johnson (GA), Payne, and Salazar repeated that vote this afternoon.

By the way, Congresswomen Watson voted despite the CBC’s web site continuing to incorrectly list her as deceased.

    Thank you for existing, team.

Thank you for this list. I am using it to vote against each congressman/woman that voted for the bailout. I look forward to voting against Dan Lungren especially because he was so anxious to vote for the bailout. Even an unknown democrat is better than a republican that is anxious to give away my hard earned taxes to this sham….
