One of the biggest rip-offs in American history!

Tuesday, Mark read the June, 19 2008 Byron York article about how Clinton cronies ripped off Fannie Mae, leaving the American people holding the bill.

Cooking the books and paying themselves bonuses on the bogus profits! Nice!

One thing that you can be certain of is that this Administration has no intention to uncover the root failures of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Bush has no stomach for exposing government corruption unless it is requested by democrats to investigate republicans. The sad fact is, that given enough rope, the democrats, and the media, will switch blame and attempt to pin this on Bush and company based upon eight years of republican majorities. It is all about perception and the talking points are already being written. Unfortunately not only are these socialistic ideas bred and born within the democrat party but, even worse, is that they now support solutions based upon even greater government growth, that requires even more spending. Here again the arsonists are disguising themselves as firemen. This scenario is no different than democrats blaming republicans for budget deficits and increased spending while offering a faith based cure that offers even larger spending proposals to create additional government programs along with their associated immortal bureaucracies. It is amazing that they even run on such concepts during these very troubling times.

Fortunately, for republicans, the idea of increased taxes supporting more government failures does not bode well as a campaign strategy consistent with today’s emerging increased energy and fuel costs, inflated goods and services, multiple mortgage failures, housing devaluations, auto and construction job layoffs, dollar devaluation and now bank saving’s failures. People want the security of money in their pockets and don’t trust that the government will allow them to get their own money back let alone someone else’s in the form of a government handout.

John McCain needs to take a sharp right turn and abort any attempt to court La Raza types (they are actually part of the problems). He greatly needs his base, which sees all these problems as having a basis in government with cures waiting in the private free market. Now is the time when an articulate, knowledgeable and hard-hitting Romney would be the perfect surrogate to squarely plant the full weight of blame, where it rightly belongs, on the shoulders of the government solution proponents. Obama is starved for new talking points. Going to the right will not convince enough voters that he is sincere and staying with the left flies in the face of sensible solutions that the public understands. In fact just look at his return to his old war position, promulgated upon our recent setbacks in Afghanistan, and you realize that he hopes to re-endear his recently disenfranchised left base while hoping to convince the rest of America that Iraq was always the wrong theater and Afghanistan was always the right one. Obama’s best hope is the naivety of youth, who lack any investment in American infrastructure and who were trained, by a dysfunctional NEA, to believe that American values are wrong and that all American ills have government solutions. To that contingent he can add the recently imported poor, legal and illegal, who by shear numbers, will overwhelm everyone else’s vote so that they can overwhelm the treasury as well.

If this tremendous scandal, that may cost the taxpayers sixty times more than the war in Iraq, were to be properly exposed by the media (which is as corrupt as any player) the democrats would run like roaches in a dark room after the light is switched on. Bush and the democrats are requesting a government fix. Fine, but the look of dismay on everyone’s face suggests that they want to know more…a lot more. They want to understand how this fiasco arose in the first place. This is the time that a through investigation will accomplish much more than all the campaign ads could ever hope to do. The public wants it, conservatives will benefit from it, and that means America benefits as well. Most of all it may well set the stage to deal with the far larger obligations presented by the imploding SS and Medicare tsunami and the false hopes of socialized medicine. Government is now reaping what it has sown and conservatives need to abundantly point this out.
