The idea is to own politicians and then to buy, sell and trade political favors. As usual this is a rather easy deal to figure out. Auchi is the moneyman for Rezko who gets the deal approved by Obama, who has his house and property purchase subsidized. Rezko gets into the low-income housing market, where his investment is heavily fortified with government money. Auchi gets a heavy return for the cash outlay and other favors as well.

What amazes me is that a little investigation shows how transparent things are. This means that in Cook County stuff like this need not be too well hidden because it is business as usual. When you get into national politics it is bound to come up. That is the only mistake that Obama is really concerned about. He knows what he did and he is not concerned that he did it as much as he is getting caught.

Ultimately the real issue here is how the national democrats and the MSM handle this and you have no further to look than the Clinton corruption model in Arkansas. It was buried and covered up and any investigations were nothing more than the efforts of a vast right wing conspiracy.

Character is based upon the choices you make when there is no possibility that you will ever be caught and the only one that knows about what you did is you. Can you live with yourself? This is fundamental to ethics, morals and values. It should be the basis upon whom we elect and trust to represent and lead us. To me character, and all that it embodies, is fundamental to a conservative philosophy. Without it there is no place that you can or should go.
