Talk Radio is simply telling the truth

Monday, Mark read an interesting column by Douglas MacKinnon in TownHall.com.

Conservative talk radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin, have been desperately trying to sound the alarm, and for their trouble, they have been smeared, misquoted, and demonized by not only the usual suspects in the liberal media, but by surrogates for Republican presidential candidates John McCain and Mike Huckabee.

What crime have Limbaugh, Hannity, and Levin committed? They told the truth.

Read the rest here.

The problem is, the truth hurts!

Talk radio is always telling the truth and because it is about conservatives and conservatism it is the place where counterfeits would be quickly recognized and debunked. MSM is consistent in its support of liberalism and its’ criticism of conservatives and talk radio. Never has talk radio supported McCain and the RINO establishment. There is no historical inconsistency here. Nothing new.

The current criticism relates to a faulty primary where voters did not get what they wanted and the establishment republicans that helped rig the primary are called to task for, not only not eschewing conservatism, but for buying into the media propaganda that set the republicans up for both a Presidential and Congressional defeat. The dumb democrats are going for a trifecta and we end up being dumber. If anything the MSM should be happy because they know that our criticism of republicans is helping to defeat our moderate/liberal choice thereby enabling a real liberal to get elected. That is why most of the criticism comes from the establishment under the guise of the MSM.

Talk radio should lie about dozens of facts so that McCain et al can be perceived to be telling the truth. That’s not going to happen.

How conservatives handle the election is a different matter and has nothing to do with truth. If conservatives vote for McCain it will be with the full knowledge that we know what we are getting and not because we are happy about it or because he is remade into what he never was.

Me doth think they protest too much and their predictions of the demise of talk radio are somewhat hasty. I can understand why the democrats hate talk radio. An educated electorate is the democrats’ worst enemy. It is very disappointing to hear and read of “republicans” criticizing conservative talk radio. It seems that the smarmy republican TV pundits are more interested in attacking and protecting their own notoriety than in actually analyzing issues and disagreements from the conservative perspectives. I guess they feel threatened also. It’s very telling that those endorsing and supporting McCain are the Good Old Boy network that have been in power and control for a long time. The “moderate” and “liberal” republicans seem to be immune to the kind of scrutiny that the conservative politicians like Rick Santorum and George Allen got. And that trickles down to the talk show hosts. No, I do believe that Talk Radio is here to stay.

Remember that John Adams said that “this Republic will survive based upon the eduction of its’ constituents”. Thanks to the UFT, the largest government union, a political arm of the democrats, we have a plain vanilla, one size fits all dumbed down education system. That is how they like it. Forget choice and vouchers. Well now they have talk radio and it bypasses and substitutes for the de facto moronic and inefficient (cost and quality) public education system. And they wonder why talk radio is here to stay? I think they know… why else would they want the Unfairness Doctrine?

Remember this is about power. Establishment republicans and liberals want more of it via big government. Conservatives want less power in government, more freedom, more liberty and more choice for people. They go to Washington to legislate. We want them in Washington to prevent legislation. This is like a policeman that has a gun and the ability to use it but does so cautiously and sparingly knowing that there will be consequences. In my field we recognize a basic premise; we make sure that before we do something we will not do any harm. That should be a legislative guiding philosophy.

Talk radio is also interactive radio. Where else can the public engage in debate and reach millions of like minds. That must scare the hell out of liberals. It’s harder to cover up lies when you have millions seeking the truth.
