David Limbaugh: McCain, the Anti-Conservative

by @ 8:12 pm on January 31, 2008. Filed under Uncategorized

On his site tonight, conservative author and commentor David Limbaugh wrote this about John McCain:

[P]erhaps most troubling about McCain is his habitual resort to class warfare. While he now says that he opposed the Bush tax cuts because he received insufficient guarantees that they’d be coupled with spending cuts, his stated reason at the time was that they were cuts just for the rich. This is demonstrably untrue.

The reductions were across the board and skewed, if anything, in favor of the middle- and lower-income earners. Only liberals mouth these disingenuous and destructive platitudes — destructive because they alienate and polarize people, stirring resentment and demonizing producers and wealth. And don’t forget that McCain was only one of two Republican senators who opposed the plan. That speaks volumes — and it should open the eyes of those resisting the truism that McCain is not a reliable Reagan conservative. They’re the ones with blinders on, not those of us laboring to unveil the truth… READ THE REST

Once again the Limbaugh magic has nailed it on the head. What’s frustrating about all this is that these “moderate/liberal” republicans like McCain, instead of embracing, working with and reaching out to conservatives, treat us like we’re lepers or something. Like they gain points with the general electorate by demonizing and trashing conservatives. I thought Crist’s cowardice in not appearing on TGO’s show around the time of the Florida primary – almost like not bothering to give him the time of day – was telling. Talk radio would be more than willing to support these putzes if they were honest and acted like we’re all in this together. Instead, they use moveon.org/liberal democrat tactics and try to shut us out. It makes me cringe how the MSM is already laying the groundwork that McCain’s weaknesses and failures are mostly because the conservative movement is sabotaging him. I hate to admit that I feel he will lose ala Bob Dole if he’s the nominee. And it will be partly because some conservatives aren’t willing to compromise their principles and who can blame them. But instead of trying to unify the party, these moderate/liberal factions will only get more hostile and will be playing right into the game plan of the MSM and moveon.org democrats, who are pushing so hard for McCain.

Like its the Conservative’s fault if the Republican party does not prevail. Just couldn’t be because of moderates than can’t the difference between Karl Marx and Thomas Jefferson. I would rather be in a minority that stands with my beliefs than be part of a majority that compromises them beyond recognition.

I see how hard it is for conservatives to get their message across. In a society that’s geared towards celebrity status and still exists with an MTV mentality, no wonder an empty suit like Obama gets rock star treatment. When you look at what’s underneath, there’s nothing there. A total creation of the media and to see how people are going orgasmic for this guy. It’s like the emperor’s new clothes analogy. People like Michelle Malkin with her views on immigration are demonized as are Rush, Laura, Sean, et al just for being conservatives. They are mean, cruel and must be defeated at all costs. And that’s from McCainiacs themselves! The liberal propaganda has also distorted public perception so much so that I’m getting the feeling there’s an undercurrent of guilt being built up out there if one doesn’t take this opportunity of a lifetime to vote for a woman or black man, no matter how unqualified they are. The republicans have got to break through somehow and I really wish them luck.

    Dcmale,

Know one thing. Anyone, or thing, that can build you up that fast can bring you down just as fast. And they will.

I agree with all of you. I’ve heard several activists on the Left express to conservative media hosts (such as Sean Hannity) their “fear” that McCain will be the nominee. They say that he will be “very difficult to defeat” in the general election, and they would rather have Romney to run against. It is so blatantly obvious to me that this is a duping strategy by the Left to get Republicans to nominate McCain. Democrats secretly know beyond any doubt that the American electorate would never, ever choose McCain over either Clinton or Obama. My question is this: Why has there not been a deafening roar from leaders of the Republican Party exposing this lie for what it is? (I have heard only one influential Republican, conservative Rush Limbaugh, characterize it for what it is—a ploy.) Because there has not been so much as a peep from the boys at the top about this, and because party leaders are hell-bent on nominating McCain, I can only conclude that Republican Party establishment operatives actually do believe that the Democrats are sincere when they say that they fear McCain will be the nominee. Anyway, should there be any Democrats who are fearful that McCain will NOT be the nominee, they can rest assured—the Republican Party IS dumb enough to nominate him.

    Michael,

You get it very well. Listen to ML. He empathizes with you and states it the way Limbaugh does. There is no difference.

  7. MLF says:

Where do you think Limbaugh got it from?

  8. task says:

    MLF,

I listened to ML when he was introduced as F. Lee Levin who frequently called in on the Rush show. I always turned my radio up. Limbaugh was weaned on ML drippings as so many of us also were.

    Thank him!

The Democrat & Liberal voters must be indeed be stupid to reveal their “fear” of McCain, if indeed he is! It is a PLOY using “reverse psychology”!

It is no secret that these RINOs and Pubicans have the utmost contempt for these Reagan Conservatives who are constantly in their way -their consistent practice of watering down Reagan Conservatism in the name of bipartisanship. Do you see Libs bending over backwards to accomodate Conservatism?

My take is that the likes of McCain and the Governator, cannot wait to disembowel and render impotent the Conservative base! In their eyes, “we” the COnservatives are IN THE WAY of their pseudo Conservatism, i.e. populism!

So remember, these RINOs hate true Conservatives. It is a battle royale. Unless the base hits back HARD, before Super Tuesday, the Conservative base will be the outcast of the GOP.

I repeat, John McCain and Arnold Swarzenneger are NOT Reagan Conservatives. Their modus operandi isn’t Reagan’s framework of Conservatism.

  10. HankWilliams4th says:

McCain castigates Romney for flip flopping on abortion, and asserts his stronger pro-life credentials.

Here’s the difference – Mitt Romney had his eyes opened to the sanctity of life when he was confronted by embryonic stem cell research. John McCain, as a pro-lifer, was blinded by political expediency and LIBERAL populism, and embraced embryonic stem cell research. McCain went from a culture of life to a culture of death! That’s the difference between Romney & McCain TODAY!

There is NO EXCUSE for playing God with embryos. Man did not give LIFE. God gave LIFE. LIFE isn’t for man to TAKE! Shame on man.Shame on the Libs & RINOs!
