MLF, Tim S, that's just it... I *want* to like Thompson. Maybe he didn't know that Mark had just played the clip from the debate where T took on H, but I thought he came off with nothing to say. If H raised taxes, tell us which taxes were raised and by how much. If H likes to spend, what programs grew rapidly while he was governor? You're right... you don't have to be silver-tongued to have good ideas, but these ideas have to be sold. So, who do I support? Maybe Rudy, then FT, then MR, then H.

I find it interesting that the media keep pushing the 3 weakest candidates. Fred Thompson is a breath of fresh air when he talks and I can see why the MSM ignores him as much as possible. Same with Rudy who, while I disagree with some of his stances, at least connects with people and has crossover appeal. With Senator Thompson, I feel a sense of confidence and trust, nothing like the uneasiness, distrust and queasiness I feel listening to McCain, Romney and Huckabee.

Pete, if you are a Thompson "detractor", who is your ideal candidate of those remaining? Thompson might not be all bells and whistles, but he gets conservatism, it's engrained in his very soul. I had some questions on his slow start, but the night in Iowa when Fred was the ONLY candidate that refused to raise his hand in response to the insane global warming question, I knew he was the one. Fred seems to be the only candidate to own a real pair of brass !@#$%^, and I can't be the only one that that's of great importance to. Since you seem to love bells and whistles, Huckabee, media darling McCain, or Romney (which is just fine) must be your candidate of choice. But for me, Fred is the man to take up the conservative banner and carry it proudly. Conservative American first, Republican second!

DrWhoFan, I see that you've missed my point. I'm not a Huckabee supporter, but rather a Thompson detractor. Was there anything exciting about T's appearance on that radio clip? He was good at the debate, but here he has a chance to put the final nail in H's coffin and simply repeats almost verbatim the points he made at the debate. Did that appearance impress you?!

Pete, your boy Huckster IS A LEFTIST. Fred was simply SPELLING OUT HUCK'S RECORD. After listening to Huckabee (ANY time), I know he'll *never* be the nominee...he's slick, dishonest, and a smarta$$. And he's all yours!

I listened with interest to this clip, but that interest turned to dismay when I heard Fred simply repeat the litany of charges against Huckabee from the debate. Huckabee's comeback may have been childish, but maybe that's all Thompson deserved. After listening to Thompson here, I know he'll *never* be the nominee. He's much too flat. On Levin's show, he should have been hitting homeruns.

task,

That's why I can't believe Mcain can ever win.

Sure, he's tough, and would be a great debater against whomever is the Dem nominee.

But his baggage I still say is going to keep voters home if he should become the nominee.
Let's not forget that McCain was wooed, according to the press, by the Dem party to "come on over". In fact, if my memory is correct, Tom Daschle led that charge. In my wildest dreams I could never imagine any Dem trying to win over any Republican UNLESS they felt they were a Dem at heart with an "R" following thier name.
I don't think McCain ever denied that happened. What he denied was another report by the media that Kerry had called him regarding being his running mate.

Huckabee looks like the second coming of Jim Jones to me and I don’t see any lack of Cool-Aid drinkers necessary to sustain his existence. Dittos for McCain.

It is also essential that Thompson, Romney or Giuliani take out McCain for their survival. With a record like his they are certainly not in need for ammunition. If Thompson manages to do this he will become a serious contender that cannot be ignored by the media. Furthermore as much as the MSM despise him they will not ignore the story. They like to sell news and when it is juicy enough they will go with the story and figure out a way to fix the results afterwards. If anyone cares to see Thompson win, and I believe that we all do, now is his time to make a move while he has everyone’s attention. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Liz, McCain also follows the Dem playbook. For instance, on immigration, it his way or you are a bigot. In the meantime it is the mal tempered, fiery dwarf who really has contempt for the rest of us. Sometimes calling people bigots is, in itself, bigoted.

Rich,

That only proves Huckabee is a Democrat like Thompson said.

That comment follows the Dem playbook.
It's my way or no way, and if you don't follow me than you're a "shite Republican".
