Spineless politicians who will not defend our borders

“I broadly support what governors like Eliot Spitzer are trying to do.” — Senator Hillary Clinton, before Governor Spitzer withdrew his plan to allow illegal aliens to get a New York drivers license.

Mark Levin led off with audio of Congressman Tom Tancredo’s “controversial” campaign ad and offered that, “It is a mini documentary of what has already occurred in this country.” He added that, “we don’t want helter-skelter on the border… anarchy in our country… a run on the national treasury. It’s not fair to people who are trying to get here legitimately and it sure as hell is not fair to the people who are already here and who are having to pay for all this.”

Mark added to what he said earlier about Congressman Tancredo and then talked about a ludicrous allegation of racial profiling by a Phoenix, Arizona, radio station. The police won’t budge:

During the break, I emailed Mark an Albany Times-Union article about 23,000 aliens who, since September, have received New York drivers licenses without a stamp indicating the expiration date of their visas [hat tip to Michelle Malkin]. He turned up the heat even higher:

Here is more fuel to the fire. The following is an excerpt from the appendix to the 9/11 Commission’s Staff Monograph on 9/11 and Terrorist Travel:

Mohamed Atta’s revised immigration arrival record (I-94) created on May 2, 2001 at the Miami INS district office. Atta had gone to the office seeking a length of stay equal to the 8-months he received for a colleague—possibly Ziad Jarrah. Tourists were not normally granted a length of stay of more than 6 months. The INS officer in Miami refused to grant 8 months to Jarrah and instead rolled-back Atta’s length of stay to the standard six months, until July 9, 2001 [all emphasis added mine].

Later that day, Mohammed Atta used that rolled back visa to obtain a Florida drivers license with an expiration date of September 1, 2007. Click on the image below and see the evidence or click here and read the monograph yourself [pdf reader required].

Hillary and Eliot meet Mohammed Atta

“As president, I will not support driver’s licenses for undocumented people…” — Senator Hillary Clinton, today.

Too late, Senator Clinton; you said what you meant the first time.

Update 11/15/07: HotAir.com has a post up with audio of Mark talking about this last night.

You sure know how to drain my batteries before a day’s work. I have to say something about this.

The NY Democrats took the arrogant, egomaniacal Governor to the woodshed this week after realizing that he had constructed a colossal ticking political weapon of mass self-destruction, that has the potential of creating multiple casualties and significant long-term morbidity for the party. The issue is radioactive. It is astonishing that these elitists never learned what the RINO Republicans experienced with the recent immigration legislation fiasco. For a party that loudly, but wrongly, touts the will of the voters in regards to an Iraq pullout they are only now getting to understand that the will of their own Democrat voters is exactly the same as the will of Conservative voters. They have mistakenly concluded that if voters were stupid enough to vote for them they would also be similarly fooled into accepting anything. How big do the tealeaves have to be? This is an American issue and, just like love for our pets, is not related to ethnicity, gender, age or party affiliation. As such they have consistently been on the wrong side of public sentiment. It has now become an emblem reflecting just how large the chasm that exists between what the voters expect and what their politicians understand or feel they can get away with really is. For a long time blue States and blue localities have aided and abetted immigration law breaking. What have they learned from 911? What they currently still do should have been known well before 911. In fact it was known. You have only to look at the conclusions of the Clinton Administration’s commission on anti-terrorism’s report to understand what should have been implemented that never was. Consequently 911 was a result of weak immigration policy enforcement, the Gorelick wall and the mistake of leaving OBL in the Sudan. If you lack the ability to comprehend this you have to be a certified mental patient, a politician or both. Americans are not anti immigrant, illegal or otherwise, as much as they are anti politicians who are pro illegal immigration. We blame the politicians not the immigrants. They still play by the same old immigration playbook, that helped bring us 911, without the revisions necessary and relevant to terrorism as it relates to security enforcement. This is a deadly policy and puts American lives and property squarely in harms way. While some communities work hard to develop a workaround patch to mange the problems created by the Federal failure to enforce immigration law other communities are enablers that magnify the problem in dire need of any Federal enforcement. Clinton is barely smart enough to know that her emerging problems are beyond chronic inconsistency regarding significant issues. It is even more than that. It is also about the truth. When her real intentions are accidentally articulated she comes up short on voter support. Clinton honesty is anathema for voters. Her success requires that she remain cloaked and dark till close to election. That will be almost impossible to accomplish even under the generous auspices of a friendly media. If I were a Republican strategist I would spend a good deal of effort on debunking her progressive social experiments and programs as compared to proven free market capitalism. But most of all, from a strategists vantage point, I would connect her to Elliot Spitzer’s stance on licenses for illegals at every turn. The public heard her loud and clear and that Albatross should not be allowed to disappear anytime before the next election.

I am hoping that the people of NY realize that Spitzer is a one term Governor and vote his ass out next time around. This clown, like all the rest of the Dems want to give driver licenses to illegals, but God forbid if we should demand National ID cards, or voter ID cards. Like always their thinking is ass-backwards.
