Monday, Mark discussed the unconstitutional efforts by the Senate to grand the District of Columbia representation in the House.
I wonder if self-proclaimed defender of the Constitution, Ron Paul, will speak out about this? Haven’t heard a peep out of anyone other than Mark!

What a travesty! Attempting to tamper with the Constitution in a blatant attempt to get power. As a native Washingtonian, we don’t deserve any kind of “vote” or “statehood” not with the “elected representation” we have now (and I use the term loosely). They can’t even manage this area as a city let alone a state. It doesn’t make any sense since the population of DC is transient anyway. It’s a federal city so depending on who gets elected or not, people come and go every 4 years. Plus it’s quickly become a college town with a few universities taking over large chunks of the area. These students come and go every 4 years. Not too many of us natives left so I don’t see any purpose to tampering with the Constitution other than the democrats trying to solidify their power so they can call the shots permanently in the future. How Chavezian.
A simple circuit court under the auspices of a simple circuit court judge would read the simple, straightforward and non- ambiguous language of the Constitution and ask the plaintiffs why they are so stupid as to waste his time with what is abundantly self-evident. The Constitution says some things and doesn’t say other things… like any other contract. Not only does it state how representation is obtained but is provides no other way. That means you can’t do what you are doing without using the amendment process.
Folks, we are in real political trouble when something as fundamental as this is even given consideration by our elected officials let alone actually voted upon.
It is not too dissimilar to our social spending which, till this day, has no Constitutional support. It is buttressed by taxes, most notably the income tax amendment, which allows it by a very circuitous route. Very cleaver but not what the framers had in mind else they would have referred to such spending directly.
The voting bill was defeated! Bravo Senate!! It gives us encouragement that the Constitution is rock solid. Never mind that the D.C. schools are crumbling around their ears, or crime is rampant, or the city is getting over-developed within and inch of its life – this bald-headed, lame excuse for a mayor that we’ve got is whining about continuing this fight. I wish the D.C. government would expend some energy into doing something positive. But then again, it’s a democrat monopoly here and they’re only interested in solidifying their power hold. No surprise.
How sad it is that the Mayor of D.C. has never read the Constitution. Maybe he’s a product of that hideous school system. The Senate had no choice but to defeat this latest example of buffoonery.
