John Murtha accused our Marines of murder before any investigation was ever done. Well, now the Investigating Office has recommending dismissing the charges against a Marine accused of this. Think Murtha will ever apologize?

Call him (respectfully if you can) and let him know what you think about his vile comments and that you want him to apologize or resign. 202-225-2065 or 814-535-2642

Late addition: Read this blog entry by the father of one of these Marines, Lance Corporal Justin Sharratt.

Murtha, I want to be the first to say you are a sad SOB! “How dare you take the side of of those that would not only kill you but my family if they had a chance?” You lay guilt before the facts came to light on our troops, or are proved to be wrong. “My God how can someone fall that far from the oath they took?” “I wish this country still had the backbone to charge persons like you with treason!”I say treason because if you attack our Military at time of war you attack my USA. I only hope you and the other libs get what you deserve when all the cards are counted.

There’s no point calling him. I know why Mark wants us to do it but it doesn’t make any difference except waste our time. The Elite don’t listen. Instead they give you lines that are so full of patronizing BS it’s unreal.
I wrote my Congressman(a Dem) over the immigration mess and got back two pages of patronizing “I know better than you what you are going through…” kind of BS. I didn’t finish reading the whole letter because several times in it he made clear he was going to do what he wanted to do, not what his constituents wanted.
The best way to get rid of these people is to elect them out. Congressmen are elected every two years so in 2008, we should try for a clean sweep. I’d rather spend the time wasted trying to call Congressmen working towards getting them out of office in 2008.
It’s not only arrogance and elitism that infect our congress, but the democrats have no sense of honor or shame. That is the main difference between the liberal and conservative/republican philosophies. You can see it in the news today – a fine senator like Senator Vitter of Louisiana – a past indescretion and he’s being hounded by the media now. Don’t tell me that’s not some of the democrat/liberal poison already at work. They know very well that republicans (conservative or not) when confronted with a past indiscretion or crime, have the decency, professionalism and honor to resign IF the situation merits it – which in Vitter’s case, I definitely feel he should NOT. The democrats love to mention Bob Livingston, Richard Nixon and of course Mark Foley. But you look at these men and even though we don’t support what they did, they did resign. I don’t see democrats responding the same way. As a matter of fact, I see a molester of women as one of their “shining” ex-presidents who they still want to re-elect along with his wife. A congressman with money in his freezer or one who molested pages they get standing ovations from the democrats and choice committee seats. The Great One even mentioned another example, Melon-Head Webb. Another “Murtha” who uses his military background, not in an honorable, distinguished way, but as a power-hungry hack.
Nope, I don’t see a parasite like Murtha resigning. And the pathetic thing is the sorry constituents who vote these clowns into offices and keep them there.
How about we contact a friendly Congressman or Senator and introduce legislation that anyone politician running on being a war veteran open up his military record(there’s a form number but I forgot what the number is) for scrutiny?
If they’re going to use them as political points to win elections then they need to “show us the money”. When somebody runs on a military record, we’re basically supporting a “pig in the poke,” unless we can take a gander at that record to know what is what. How do we know he showed any leadership competence while in the military?
When I was a military wife, I did a whole lot of volunteer work that had me rubbing elbows with some of the brass. The military is just as political as any other organization that has to do with the government. Some of those officers… Post Commanders, Deputy Commanders, and the like… I wouldn’t give two cents for in the private sector. Their incompetence was striking to say the least. Murtha strikes me as one of those ilk.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I have some small respect for anyone who has served during wartime but that doesn’t translate into an utter belief in their competence to do anything else. Heck, I have several uncles and much older cousins who served in Vietnam and Korea…love them dearly… but I wouldn’t vote them into a position such as Murtha’s either.
gorin002, we love US troop supporters here! Welcome!
Doesnt apply to Rep. Lard Ass.
Being a Marine is a state of mind. It is an experience some have likened more to a calling than a profession. Being a Marine is not a job, not a paycheck; it is not an occupational specialty. It is not male or female, majority or minority; nor is it a rank insignia. Stars, bars, or chevrons are only indicators of the responsibility or authority we hold at a given time. Rather, being a Marine comes from the eagle, globe, and anchor that is tattooed on the soul of every one of us who wears the Marine Corps uniform. It is a searing mark in our innermost being which comes after the rite of passage through boot camp or Officer Candidates School when a young man or woman is allowed for the first time to say, “I’m a United States Marine.†And unlike physical or psychological scars, which, over time, tend to heal and fade in intensity, the eagle, globe, and anchor only grow more defined, more intense, the longer you are a Marine. “Once a Marine, always a Marine.â€ÂÂ
Where I work I have spoken to many people who have voluntarily gone to Iraq. One guy (Marine) is the husband of one of my employees. He has had several tours and is now a trainer (in Iraq). He states that moral is high and they just wish the Congress gets out of the way and lets them do their job.
Steph, that would be Form 180. But I wouldn’t hold my breath for legislation like this, as much as I agree with you. Too many cowards in Congress…
LIP, that is an excellent comment! I was Army, but !
Hang Murtha for TREASON!!!
