“If our folks on talk-radio and yap-yap TV, if they actually believed there was a fiercely liberal press that dominated the country, they would be running, kicking, and screaming, demanding a ‘Fairness Doctrine.’” — Congressman David Obey (D, WI-7), June 28, 2007

We have been nearly silenced by the fiercely liberal bias in the press and television media. Yet we choose to answer that oppression by speaking freely on talk-radio and the Internet. That is the American way. Congressman Obey must have never heard the wise American axiom, “I cannot be free unless you are.”

PLEASE let the Democrats go down this road of trying to silence talk radio. PLEEEEEASE let them do it!

If that (and a Hillary candidacy) isn’t enough to mobilize voters in 2008, NOTHING will.

    Just for the record:
Last time that I checked there was one or possibly two radio stations that were truly conservative in NYC. In Palm Beach County there is only one station and Randi Rhodes (very far-left conspiracy theory type) occupies four hours of prime time. Sean Hannity is only on as a rerun and ML can only be heard on the Internet. In how many cities are there more than one or two stations out of dozens available that are Conservative? The problem for liberals is not the number of conservative stations… it is the fact that listeners prefer to tune their radios to those few channels.
How about getting the democratic presidential candidates on Hannity and Colmes where they can get equal time from Hannity and equal time from Colmes? I’m sure ML, and his audience, would love to hear a dissenting view from Hillary Clinton or John Edwards.
Of course none of this will happen because what they really want is to use and waste time so that advertisers will not support the medium and the show will die and the voices will be silenced.

Let me start off by saying that Voinovich is a coward and a schmuck. He didn’t like the tough questions Hannity was throwing at him so he stuck his tail between his legs and ran off. He wasn’t getting his own way on Sean’s show so he acted like a spoiled child, grabbed his marbles, (If he even has any marbles.) and ran home. He was all for the Fairness Doctrine then didn’t know what it was. Then he was against it. He was all over the place. It was like watching Stevie Wonder drive.

That interview with him and Sean showed exactly why we need term limits on these idiots. I don’t even want to get into him voting for someone else’s amendment and that not knowing the outcome. Or the fact he hasn’t even read the Amnesty bill.

I sure am glad that Talk Radio runs America and if I know what the Fairness Doctrine is maybe I should run for Senate. Spend two years there and run for President. Then I carpet bomb Hollywood and the Hamptons. Thank me.

I listened to that interview live, and my jaw dropped in disbelief. I couldn’t believe that was an ELECTED SENATOR reacting that way.

Then again, NOTHING from these guys should be so surprising.

If this is the best we’ve got in this nation as far as choices of leadership… we’re in deep doodoo.

  9. Steph says:

I meant Voinovich, not Pence… just in case anybody misunderstood.

Can you believe this idiot? Could there be a more clueless person serving in Congress? I heard the audio clip of Obey making this remark the other day, and I almost fell over in disbelief. Conservatives have been dealing with a “fiercely liberal press that dominated the country” for as long as I can remember, but we are not the ones demanding a “Fairness” Doctrine. We deal with it, we find other methods of getting our message out, and we win debates, because we make the superior arguments, mainly because we have the facts/truth on our side. Contrast that with liberals who get frustrated because their arguments do not hold up. In true Stalinist fashion, they immediately attempt to find ways to silence anyone with an opposing viewpoint. They are so pathetically lame….
