WSJ, Immigration & the Markets
By Mark R. Levin

I think this gentleman needs to read up on Milton Friedman when it comes to free markets. When you have a massive welfare state as we do in the United States, which opens local, state and federal treasuries to formerly illegal immigrants, the free market isn’t so free. I don’t know why this is so difficult for some to comprehend, but apparently it is. If you want to promote free markets, you start in Mexico and other countries which refuse to reform their centralized, socialist economies but, instead, actively encourage their citizens to emigrate to our country.

Open borders do not promote free markets here or in Mexico. They promote big government here and corruption in Mexico. Nor do open borders promote limited government, sound fiscal policy, the rule of law, and a host of other fundamental conservative principles for which the Wall Street Journal editorial page once stood. Milton Friedman understood this. Tom Sowell understands it. And most Americans do as well.

And so did John Stuart Mill.

These critics are just amazing. That is what immigration was always about and what it should also be about today. It currently is not. But, hey, if they are that outspoken and speak so loudly and clearly maybe they should go back home and similarly voice their opinions to straighten out the mess in their own country that caused them to come here in the first place. Capitalism works. I know plenty of people, that are bright, not so bright, American born as well as foreign born. They have three things in common. They started with nothing, are presently well off and they all work very hard. This is a Country that still provides sufficient liberty and freedom that just about guarantees success provided you make the effort and work the hours.

The WSJ has been consistently wrong in this regard.

We are now making very bad law to undue what was once very good law. Legislators simply change the law because they wish not to enforce it. Every problem related to the current big government immigration, fiscal fiasco could be traced to one fatal fundamental common denominator… they have skirted the rule of law. There simply is no right way to do a wrong thing.

In this regard America has become a bad parent. Worse yet is that we are encouraging other people and other countries to do the same.

America allready allows 2 million legal immigrants annually into this country more than all industrial nations put together. enough of the dumb stuff

I just got off the phone with the offices of Senators Cornyn and Hutchison, both Republicans from Texas. The persons who answered their phones told me that as of now, both Cornyn and Hutchison are against this suicide pact that is now pending. I hope that they are not lying to me. They better not be! I don’t know what I’ll do if they DO support this piece of garbage, but I WILL think of something!

I don’t think they would outright lie like that… Alexander, here in Nashville, gave a round about reply as to where he stood and Corker said outright he was against it, Alexander has been voting on amendments in line with the Dems, Corker has not. This bill is coming down along party lines although not as strictly as other legislation that’s been “worked” on… like the Iraq funding. Very few Dems are voting against this monstrosity but a few Reps are voting for it, too.

  8. task says:

Some will not vote for it when they really would if their vote were necessary for its’ passage. This way they look good.

  9. JFKDEMFAN says:

Task: From your mouth to God’s ears!! The troubling part are the other “SOME” who will vote for it. Brit Hume spoke about this subject tonight on FOX NEWS.

  10. DubInDallas says:

JFKDEMFAN: I don’t know why, but my computer will not open the files that you posted. I only have Windows 98, and maybe that is not enough for me to open pdf files. Oh, well- don’t worry!! I have plenty of other ammunition with which I am eager to give our treacherous leaders HELL!

  11. JFKDEMFAN says:

DUB: Tell me what postings you are not able to access. I will send them to you another way. You know me better….I NEVER give up!! OOORAH!!

  12. DubInDallas says:

I appreciate that, JFKDEMFAN! I was able to get the other information about the upcoming march in Washington! Thanks! ONWARD!
