I choose not to join yet another wimp-a-thon
By Mark R. Levin

As Senate Judiciary Committee members continue to show that emails don’t comport with past statements and all the rest of it re the firing of eight U.S. attorneys, I guess I’m supposed to be outraged by all of it like some of my colleagues. I guess I’m supposed to fret about the political damage it will do to the Republican Party. Of course, the lib media are having a field day, denying their customers context and facts, as they continue to push the story. Newsbusters does a good job of busting them here. But I choose not to join yet another wimp-a-thon, where phony scandals are made to look serious and too many Republicans and conservative pundits fire shots at their own people.

Is Alberto Gonzales a conservative? No. Was there an organized conservative effort to stop his nomination? No. Did the Republican majority in the Senate confirm him for his post? Yes. So, to argue now that one of the reasons he should go is because he’s not a conservative seems odd. Is Alberto Gonzales the smartest and most competent person to serve as attorney general? No. Did he botch the firing of the eight U.S. attorneys? I don’t know because I don’t what the question means under these circumstances, i.e., this is a phony scandal.

The same Democrats who defended Janet Reno when she ordered the torching of the Koresh compound resulting in the death scores of Americans, including children, defended her for over seven years in office. Was she the smartest and most competent person to serve as attorney general? Quite the contrary. When Reno sent armed federal agents to snatch Elian Gonzalez from his relatives and hand him to Fidel Castro’s thugs, the Democrat didn’t criticize her. They lauded her. When Reno built the wall of separation between the FBI and CIA higher and wider than the law required, the consequences of which were devastating, the Democrats said nothing. When Reno undermined an independent counsel named Ken Starr, the Democrats supported her. When the INS, which reported to her at the time, expedited the citizenship process to register more Democrat voters, the Democrats supported her.

I can hear it now: “But Mark, we’re not like the Democrats. We’re better than them.” Throwing your own people to the liberal wolves over something that is fundamentally absurd — such as the firing of presidential appointees by the president — is not a sign of character or moral superiority. It’s disloyal and self-destructive. Besides, when you reward this kind of politics, you get more of it. And the Democrats don’t much care whether Gonzales is conservative or the eight U.S. attorneys were the greatest U.S. attorneys in American history. They didn’t stop with John Bolton, they didn’t stop with Donald Rumsfeld, they didn’t stop with Lewis Libby, and they won’t stop with Gonzales. Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, and ultimately George Bush are in their sights. And there is little political downside for the Democrats to march on when the Republican and conservative response is so pusillanimous.

The Socialists are floating on hot air and the Administration is on Constitutional bedrock. I say dismiss them. Take them out. Responding to them is like negotiating with Iran.

Ben Franklin stated, “If you wish to be remembered after you are dead and buried you need to write or do things worth the writing”. The Bush Administration can still achieve noteworthy remembrance by forcing the Constitution to determine the irrelevance of this Congressional majority. Stand up to this liberal criminalization of Constitutional authority. Push this through the Courts, pending a declaratory ruling from the US Supreme Court, clearly recognizing the unambiguous right of the Chief Executive to fire any Federal Prosecutor at any time without any Congressional oversight or review. Even the non conservatives on the Supreme Court cannot avoid this conclusion.

Fire them all the way Clinton did! If Clinton did it, it must be a wonderful thing!

  3. John in Dublin says:

Fire ‘em all….and I am talking about the damned libs and rinos in Congress.

One thing the Administration has to do right now. Stop legitimizing these proceedings. He is dealing with a political kangaroo investigation that is clearly out of bounds and that is working without authority to conduct much of the substance of these hearings. He has to abundantly exercise his legal authority in a Clarion fashion to do what he did and dismiss their pseudo authority to investigate why he did it. Why he did it does not make anything illegal. The more he permits these proceedings to survive the more the press will misrepresent. When do they ever get it right?
I read one hack article deriding the choice to allowing the Supreme Court to rule since it would be risky and disastrous for one side or the other. I disagree. I have seen this Court do weird things. I doubt this will one of them. Draw the line… this is the right issue and it now is the right time. There is plenty of time before the election or he could slow it down for a ruling to arrive after the election. Take control.

No more “high road”. I’m SICK of the “high road”.

That doesn’t mean Republicans have to lower their standards, either…….it just means they have to QUIT STANDING BY WITH THEIR HANDS IN THEIR POCKETS while Schumer, Feinstein & the rest get carte blanche to spew hypocrisy without any expectation of accountability.

    Utterly sickening.

Well said, task, and I’ll even bump it up a notch-they need to push the envelope, ferret out some other non-loyal US Attorneys (and others) and replace them. This is where George W. Bush will stand or fall, so he might as well go on the offensive and force the issue.

  7. task says:

Exactly, Dr.WhoFan65. He needs to fight his way out of this and not be “whimped” to death.
We need only look at the Libby fiasco. That did not have to happen.

With all the real corruption on the “lib” side the Administration might consider keeping them busy chasing their own tails. Take Schumer off of offence and let him play defense for awhile. He is a political arsonist. Take him out. His overt involvement with the Special Prosecutor needs to be looked at. Investigate Feinstein as well. What about Jefferson (D-LA)? What about Reid?

They not only go after Gonzales, but they also neutralize him so he cannot effectively pursue their corruption. I have to give them credit for a nice strategy.

I say keep them destabilized. Keep them busy. Want to rock their world? Pardon Libby.

  8. task says:

Remember something Dr.WhoFan65.These people are not only about keeping the Administration busy with pseudo investigations but, just as importantly, they wish to offset any real corruption scandals they deem might be coming their way. If Republicans did what these libs do the entire Republican party would be doing hard time.

Definitely some good points, task. Still, as far as Libby, I’d prefer to see that play out in the appeals process-all the way if need be-and if it stands, THEN GW should pardon him on his way out the door. What happened to Libby was wrong, sure, but in a way he brought it on himself for TALKING TO PINKO REPORTERS IN THE FIRST PLACE!

But yes, it’s time to go on the offensive on more than one front: 1) A purge of political enemies within the Executive Branch; 2) Going after Reid, Jefferson, Frankentwitch, et al. And pour it on every day-don’t allow the DNC and their propaganda arm (MSM) to distract the issues.

Now I don’t know how that could be properly accomplished in accordance with ‘settled law’ regarding the separation of powers issue, but with the dhimmi party trying to encroach on the Executive Branch’s powers, it’s time to push back if there’s a way to do so and NOT LET UP!

I have been of mixed opinion regarding Libby because I know an appellate win would have political significance. But more than that I look at a human being who suffered enough and who is probably bankrupt with legal fess and whose family is suffering greatly. He did not talk to the PINKOS in the MSM. It was Joe Wilson who did that. Wilson seeks more media attention than Chucky Schumer. In addition Armitage spoke to the media and was the real culprit for the Novack column that started the circus. Additionally I truly believe that Plame was neither covert nor innocent therefore there was no reason for Fitzgerald’s existence. Finally, Fitzgerald had the name of the leaker the moment the investigation started. That was another reason for him to close-up shop. That leaves Libby charged with lying about a non-crime that he didn’t commit in the first place (Armitage did). What if he lied about his golf scores? This was more about the seriousness of the charge than the substance of the charge because the charge itself was groundless. Libby spoke not to the media but to the FBI and to the Grand Jury where I believe you cannot take the 5th because it was not really about him. He wouldn’t have had to take the 5th anyway because he knew he was innocent so why worry about a process conviction.

The reason you can’t give these guys a toehold is because they will consume your whole body. I used Libby as an example. It is no different with Gonzales. They want Rove, the VP and Bush. They do not want a lame duck President; they want a dead duck non-President.

The fact that we have a Republican President does not give the legislative branch carte blanche to commit crimes based upon a separation of powers defense. It is a requirement of the Justice Department, appointed and maintained by the President, to uphold the law. Case in point. Look at Sandy the “burglar” Berger. Where is the Justice Department? Here is a man that risked everything to deny the 911 Commission material that he felt would have resulted in different conclusions. He decided to change history. He expected to be caught and I can tell you that he had no idea that he would have gotten off this easy. He was ready for some serious lying and some serious jail time. Only Republicans could foul this up.

This is not about Berger. Connect the dots. Who gave him the assignment and why? Remember that Libby was about nothing yet in the minds of “libs” it could lead to Bush. Imagine what a windfall that would have been. This is the real thing. These people are Marxists; hence they believe and understand that “the ends do justify the means”. I doubt that Berger did this to improve the image of BJ Clinton for posterity. I truly believe that this is about Hillary’s Presidential run. This is about Hillary as President of your country. Under the Clinton Administration we have 900 FBI files that were pursed by a former bouncer and Clinton staffers. We had Chinese military money used for American campaigns while we gave them MERV missile technology under the guise of commercial satellite enterprise. We had a President that while Governor, undressed before women procured for him by State Troopers and fondled women in the course of conversation and who very probably raped a woman. That President lied repeatedly under oath and suggested that others do the same. I could go on and on but for the fact that we all know this and much more. Yet now his wife, who was a coconspirator to all this is running for the most powerful office on earth. And he will be co-President. This is current events. I guarantee you that if she is elected the concept of Separation of Powers will be meaningless. She will overpower the other branches with the aide of minions of attorneys. She will demolish any dissent. She will also inject into our government and our collective lives the most lethal dose of socialism that this country has ever seen. FDR would have been astonished.

Does any normal, non-socialist, person feel that Sandy Berger should not be investigated and eventually indicted for his certain untruthfulness? This is not some forgetfulness that was insufficient for a Libby defense. These are high crimes and misdemeanors by a former top government official with a focused purpose in mind. If it were up to me I would give him Sodium Pentothal because the truth in this case is most likely to be more profound than the Da Vinci Code.

Whew! I couldn’t agree more with all of you! The Libs want the President DEAD! Period!
