    Hey Fitzemata, wadaya say?

I just got back from the Aud-Hillaray.

    Aud-Hillaray, what’s an Aud-Hillaray?

    It’s a Commiecrat B!+(# but I really can’t say.

We all need to remember to expect even worse with the Crats, Joe Stalin made Torquemata look like a muppet.

Great Toon Mark, you hit the nail on the head.

The more things change, the more things stay the same.

The democrats are like a cancer – they’ve gotten hold and it’s hard to get rid of them. They’re great at saying the things people want to hear – that way noone cares what they really do no matter how corrupt. They’ve gotten really pissed at republicans because people actually started to look at their platform and like it. Their golden boy BJ was exposed…no, that doesn’t sound good, he was caught with his pants down…you know and then his heir-apparent lost the presidential election so they’ve been in rabid, revenge mode ever since.

There are many tragedies associated with the Libby trial. The Administration, conservatism agendas, the public and most of all Mr. Libby himselm are victims. Certainly this is mostly the result of a gross misapplication of prosecutorial power. Now we have seen this with both Nyfong and Fitzgerald. At least the N.C. DAs have condemned Nyfong.
In many regards I blame the Bush Justice Department for not having stepped in. That is part of their job. They created the Special Counsel. Yes, they themselves did not wish to know the name of the leaker for impartiality reasons but they should have. There was no down side to that. Did they worry about media coverage? With that knowledge they could have shut the whole circus down with easy justification because the hunt for the leaker was over before the investigation ever started. Beyond that, given the very fact that the CIA deliberately ambiguously identified Flame as a possible covert operator was sufficient for the AG to demand to know from the CIA whether she was, or was not, a bona fide covert operator. If she was not covert she could not have been outed. No ball no foul (i.e. no crime). Fitzgerald never did that. He really knew that she was not covert because if he felt otherwise the charges would have included her outing. He never actually said she was covert because he couldn’t. Admitting otherwise would have extinguished his whole case and demolished his very purpose for existence. No glory in that. Was there ever an attempt made to determine the reasons behind why the CIA never clarified Flame’s status? After all they, themselves, were the leakers (Armitage). Could it have been because they were trying to get even with the Administration? Wasn’t that what Fitzgerald was doing for them? Why then should they interfere? Libby and his attorneys were essentially alone. The Justice Dept. didn’t interfere to help and Fitzgerald and he media were teamed cohorts. Interestingly Fitzgerald claimed that the Administration tried to get even with Wilson for the NY Times article and other anti-Administration remarks. That is exactly what the CIA did to the Administration. Doesn’t the Administration have a right to clarify their position for defensive purposes? The CIA never clarified theirs for offensive purposes.
Interestingly by the very fact that Armitage was not called before the Grand Jury Fitzgerald is making the statement that the leaker of Flame’s non-covert identity himself did not commit a crime. Therefore how could the non-leaker have committed the crime of leaking that the leaker himself never committed. There was no crime to investigate.

Our Constitution was designed to mitigate Government power abuses yet sadly this glaring, ostentatious and regrettable event undermines that concept. Any civil rights types from the left crying about this? I wonder if those supporting American Constitutional rights to be afforded foreign combatants would similarly support that these same combatants be indicted for lying to the FBI?

As much as I would love to see an appellate affirmation of Libby’s innocence or a retrial to accomplish the same I would also like to see a Bush pardon. The media and democrats will cry foul and attempt to further vilify Bush and Cheney. This time the ball will wander into the Administration’s court. They have the pulpit and they can now for the first time articulate the truth that they have previosly been reticent and quiet about. Correctly done they could overwhelm liberal and media countermeasures. The coverage will be provided and it should be Administration dominated.
By the end of his Presidency Mr. Bush may come to understand that the democrats that he got along with in Texas are not the same as the Washington beltway and NY liberals. They take no prisons. They do not distinguish between right and wrong and neither do they care. They seek to destroy him and build a liberal agenda afterwards. It is time for Bush to recognize this and place his pragmatism and altruism on the back burner to be someday used by those who may understand and appreciate it.

  5. ScottT says:

Harry Reid has now sunk lower than the 500th level of prehistoric dinosaur sh*t from the jurassic era. For this obscene little twerp to run to the microphones after Scooter Libby’s life has been destroyed by this dishonest political witch hunt and declare the conviction is “proof” of manipulated intelligence for war in Iraq by the Bush administration says EVERYTHING, once and for all, about just HOW insane and dangerous the Democrat party is.

Can you IMAGINE what message this sends to our enemies?? Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, Kim Jung Il, Hugo Chavez & all the rest of them must be just laughing their asses off.

AND THE DEMOCRATS DON’T CARE!! ALL THAT MATTERS TO THEM IS THAT AMERICA’S DEFEATS ARE THEIR POLITICAL “GAINS”!

    Beyond the pale.

    Great cartoon Mark Dean

  7. DubInDallas says:

Task, you make a good point in saying that the Libs in the Beltway are a deadly and ravening breed apart from the Libs that W was able to deal with here in Texas. And ScottT, you are right about Reid’s sub-scatological status. And Mr. Dean, as always, kudos on the cartoon!
