This is exactly the kind of thing that the left wants us paying for, the sooner we’re a third world peoples bananga socialista republik the happier they’ll be. If things don’t improve soon, they never will. And I blame our leaders.
I am so glad Mark brought up this topic. Last week someone tried to talk to Sean about the medical issues like drug restistant TB and he said well I don’t know about that. I sure do. In NYC we are having a huge upsurge in TB even in sites other than the lungs like gynecological infection with the TB virus not to mention Hepatitis B and other deadly forms of the disease because these people come from places where the hospitals reuse needles.
Emma Lazarus did not say, “Give us your garbage- send whatever can walk!” If we Americans hope to continue to “breathe free”, we better not let in drug-resistant TB cases!
Dub I have always said the statement by Lazarus on the statue is not our country’s policy on immigration just because it’s engraved there. Libs love to site it as if it was. That being said when I hear them do it now I will be armed with a wityy defense thanks to you.
twins3499 I must confess that I was quoting my own personal teacher, friend, hero, and mentor when I said “Give me your garbage- send whatever can walk!” The author of that was Howard Nemerov, the third Poet Laureate of the United States. (The first two were Robert Penn Warren and Richard Wilbur.)
The quote comes from a poem that he wrote during the Carter administration, a poem entitled “Coming Home To New York When It Was Said To Be Going Down The Drain”.
He passed away in 1991, but to me he is more alive than ever. I feel genuinely blessed to have been the friend of such a great human being, a great human who was a genuinely worthy Poet Laureate Of The United States!

Charla, there is no way to purchase a transcript that I know of. However, you can listen to the audio and transcribe it yourself. You can find the audio for that day at the link for Free Govt Cheese.
