No other single digit conveys so much, no other gesture states so concisely the feelings of the moment. A heartfelt thumbs up to Sergeant Michael Burghardt, you’ve said it all. Hey Congress, did you get that?

That was a great read, Smooth! Thanks!

Every generation produces heros, as did my generation which to some was known as the Vietnam generation. To others it was the Woodstock generation. Your viewpoint was generally based on clarity of mind: who did you believe? what did you read? was Mozart more profound than Country Joe and the Fish? Were you on drugs? (A good example of lifelong drug use and the enablement of such can be heard weekday mornings on WABC radio’s Curtis and Kuby show during the unchecked oratory of Mr. Kuby.)
This Burghardt family has produced a hero from each of these generations. And as with the senior Burghardt, the heroism of Sergeant Michael will likely be overlooked by a MSM which somehow feels it all about them. From the blatant stupidity of the questions hurled at the president’s press secretary, we can see that they could have no idea of what is symbolized by the defiant gesture, or of the act of selfless heroism which preceded it.

It’s about America’s resolve; its generosity and courage and about heros like the Burghardts.

    Not about you, David Gregory.

  4. This one man, and all those brave men and women like him, have mor courage, more character, than all the politicians put together. God Bless our servicemembers.

You’re more than welcome, MLF! Glad to do it.

Sgt. Burghardt’s gesture is much more correct politically than the preponderance of what the MSM offers up as “politically correct.”

Sgt. Burghardt is a much greater war hero than John Kerry could even lie about being!

  7. HOORAH!!! I would have flipped something else at the pathetic terrorist dogs….
